  1. New WD Hard disk now installed and things back to normal with help of Recovery Disks and various articles. Thank you to all who pointed me in the right direction My next task is to try and find out why the original WD HDD failed so early in it's life and to try and retreive the data from it...........................Harry S
  2. Thank you for the advice Randy L. I will let you know how I get on..................Harry S
  3. Thank you Jelly Bean: I have the two DVD's marked Recovery Disks and the total contents comes to 7.78 GB's using udf file system. I have had a quick look at the contents, which looks like my complete computer contents when made, hopefully including Windows 7. I appreciate I will have to format my new hard drive when it arrives (another computer ?) before I can try out the Recovery Disks on the Acer Aspire. Harry S 17.38/15th June 2011
  4. Hello from a Newcomer Harry S. My Acer Asprire M3802/Windows 7 with a WD HDD has just failed after a years use. At boot up, a flash of a blue screen and then Windows trying to repair the Hard Drive. This lasts about 7 minutes and then everything shuts down. Attempts at all other boot options leads back to the attempt to repair the HDD. I took the Hard Drive out of the circuit and some form of normality returned but of course no method of booting. I have ordered an identical Hard Drive replacement but all I have to help is two 'home made' Recovery Disks. I would appreciate any advice on how to go about getting back to normal after I have installed the new Hard Drive. Thank you from rural France. Harry S
