  1. This is really frustrating me as everything I've read implies that having Office 2010 will enable me to use/edit documents created in 2007. When I call up the document it opens in Word 2007 compatibility mode. When I click on the file icon the only words in bold that I can use are "Open", "Print" and "Close". The following are all faded and I can't click on them "New", "Convert", "Save", "Save As", "Prepare", "Send" and "Publish". When I click on any of the tabs in the ribbon across the top, everything is faded except for some under the "View" tab. When I try and type in one of the fields it states at the bottom of the screen "This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked". I had a "chat" on the microsfot website and they told me to uninstall the 2010 trial that came with the computer but it isn't listed in the programmes that can be uninstalled so I can't do that either. It's getting a bit embarrassing to be honest because I can't use it for work.
  2. Thank you for your replies. When I go to my "downloads" box, right click on the file name, "properties", "read only" is not ticked. It did say it might be blocked because it came from another computer so I clicked "unblock" but the same problem occurs. When I try to type in one of the fields in the template it says "This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked".
  3. Hi, I have started a job working from home. I have been sent a template in word 2007 and I only have word 2010 installed on my pc. I can read the document fine but it won't let me edit it or anything else - just view it or print it. It's a template which I need to fill in and send to different people many times a day. Can you help? I have Windows 7. Thanks.
  4. Right, here is an update! I took the laptop to PC World as it is still within the warranty. They quickly established there was a problem with the wireless card and sent it off to Acer for a repair. Acer replaced the wireless card and I got the laptop back today. I am typing on it now! Yay!
  5. I have restarted and the problem still remains. I only bought this in May, should I just take it back to PC World?
  6. No. When I switched on this morning it connected straight away with internet connection and it recognised my Sky wireless "home network", after a couple of minutes it lost internet connection but still showed a connection to Sky. This is unusual. It has been showing a connection to "Unidentified network - public network" all the while I've had this problem. In fact, I have just disconnected and reconnected and it has reverted to "Unidentified network - public network". Troubleshooting shows "The default gateway is not available - not fixed" and "The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken - detected"
  7. My previous reply is regarding the atheros adapter which it says is connected. There is also "wireless network connection 2 - not connected - microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter". I haven't unchecked ipv6 on this one and not sure why I have 2 wireless adapters?
  8. I have done this and there is still no internet connection.
  9. Finally I have managed to copy the results of ipconfig /all! Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600] Copyright © 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
