i downloaded that file and done what you said and it still isnt working the driver still has a yellow "!" next to it and it still isn't showing in "computer". i went into properties of the driver and got this information for you to see,"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". the disc drive runs when i put a cd in but then stops altogether. if anyone has any other sugestions i would appreciate it and be willing to try them. thanks :) Oh and i rebooted my laptop like it said on goku's post.

my hl-dt-st-dvdram gsa t20n ata device driver has stopped working and shows code 19 and i cant figure out what is up with it i have looked at some other forums, they are all simular but none of their solutions work for me. i have tried installing a driver finding program but that doesn't work either, there is a driver for it but is says that it is failing to install and i can't find a site to download a new driver. oh and it doesn't show the disc drive in "computer". can anyone help me solve this please? thanks.
