Hi,
I have just bought a new hybrid drive and tried a clean install of windows XP pro but it keeps coming up 'Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter.'
I've tried connecting it alongside the old SATA drive I was using before and it seems to work fine - I can view it in 'my computer', format it, assign a drive letter etc, it all works just as it did before but with an extra drive, I just can't load the OS onto the hybrid drive on it's own.
I've tried:
changing the boot sequence in the BIOS, which recognises the new drive,
adding a jumper to the DVD drive to make it master IDE
a different CD drive,
taking the CMOS battery out,
plugging the drive into a different SATA port,
using a different OS disk (a copy of the XP disk and an old windows 2000).
The OS disk starts up when I insert it with windows loaded using the old HDD but obviously it won't install because I have SP3 installed which is a newer version.
So now I'm out of ideas; can anyone suggest anything else?
