  1. Hi, with the recommend from your team, I have been useing Opera browser now for a few months and I am finding it really good indeed. It is not all compatable with some of the sites that I use, but with some tweaking I might be able to. Now the question is, why is it so faster than Internet Exployer 7. You olny have to click IE7 and I have to wait about a minute to get the home page to come up. With Opera it is there in a few secounds. Opera is so quick why are the others out there useing it more? Thanks again for the help in the past. Walt
  2. The computer is to far away from the modem
  3. Hi. I have a Belkin G+ wireless modem, that I want to connect to my computer wireless. I have no adaptor at the moment. Do you know what one I need? Do I go for a Belkin make or can I go for a different make? If I go for a different make it will be cheaper. I am running XP on a Dell Dimension 4600 which is about 4 years old, also running Internet speed of 100Mbps with Virgin Media. Walt Happy New Year to you all
  4. Thanks Thankyou for this. I have ordered a CD from them and will give it a try, when it comes through. Thanks again. Walt
  5. I have been useing XP and 98 since I started computing. I would like to try Linux to see if I could get on with it. Do you recommend that I should try it or leavce it alone? My computing skills are average so not sure if I should but it would be nice to try. Also could I run it along side XP as my wife would not get on with somthing different. Walt
  6. Thankyou very much indeed. I am very greatful for the advise. Walt
  7. Hi, I have got a Dell Dimension 4600 running XP. Have had it for about four years now and having problems on starting it up, I have been advised that the bit were it reads the bios bit is wearing away and it is finding it hard to read. Now the question I would like to ask is, as my wife and I are in our late 50s, we only use it for the net, doing a bit of photo work, save pictures and not really play many games. Which sort of computer do you think we should go for? We really do not use all the stuff on the one we have now, so I was thinking that we could go for something that is more useful to us and not have to pay for stuff we don't use. Any ideas on this would be very hulpful.
  8. Hi sorry about that. Yes temper and yes he is and really spending too long on it without doing his homework.I know he is 18 and his life, but he will only have one shot at this. Walt
  9. I know it should be down to the child and parents, but so we don't have to go through the ordeal of tamptrames etc. Do you know of a way that I can put a time limit on MSN and password protect it as well? Any help with this matter will say a lot of problems with a 18 year old trying to do his A levels Walt
  10. HI, we have a dell dimension 4600 computer with 512 mbs of ram in 2 units and would like to add more. Do we have to add 2 memory unit upgrades, or can we just buy one. Yours sincerly Walt
  11. Thanks for that, I am now up and running with the graphics card. Walt
  12. I am in need of a soundcard driver AC97 for a built in soundcard. It is for a HP media computer and the motherboard is a MicroStar, MS6506. 1.0. I have tried all of last night and the ones that I tried seem to lock up the computer. Most likely they were the wrong ones. Please could anyone help. Also what is a PCI simple communications controler, as I also need one of them as well. Walt.
  13. I am not sure what graphics card I have and not sure how to find out, but when installing win98 it will not pick up on the graphics card. All I know is that it needs a Radeon software. Any idea on how to find out what other stuff I have in the computer as I did have a bit of softwaer once that read my computer and told me every thing that I had. I have an old HP media desktop and running win 98 secound edition. Walt
  14. I thank you very much, as this will save me a whole lot of trouble and time. I will stay with windows 98, and just put up with it being an out of date system. Walt
