  1. And now a new problem, all was working well remotely until just now I'm away from home, trying to access my PC, Its booted up to a black screen ( can see it on an IP webcam) and there its stuck I have an IP address i can use with wake on lan as well as the PC ( the one thats stuck) mac address and nothing else i can send a ping command to the ip address (ping ADDRESS) and it appears to work. Nether Teamviewer or Chrome remote desktop see the P.C, and both report it as offline. I have no physical access to this PC for a week
  2. Seems to tally with everything else ive read about this issue, non UK based Customer support failing to understand something that probably isnt on their script. Also see here: https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Let-s-beat-the-scammers-together/Teamviewer-is-being-erroneously-blocked/td-p/2143104
  3. update: the thing updated again, but this time all appears OK ( shouldnt have said that as tempting fate)
  4. Do you use talk talk, or any other company that uses talk talks systems ( ie chess) ? If Talk talk, or a company that uses talk talk as a wholesale network is in the chain, either at the remote end, or the end with the PC then its most likly an issue with talk talk as they are blocking access to Teamviewer see here https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2017/12/uk-isp-talktalk-blocks-popular-internet-vpn-tool-teamviewer.html In my opinion this is somehtig that Talk talk should be working on, blocking a ( useful) tool because phone scammers pretending to be talk talk is not much better than blocking the entire internet as there are scams out there. If you are relying on remote access software it may be worth while having a back up service, I also use Google Chrome remote desktop that can be loaded into the chrome broweser on the remote PC and works in the background
  5. looks like i will have to sit back and wait - or hopefuly microsft will fix it all. Now i have another issue, everything appears to boot as normal, but every now and again it gets stuck on the Windows splash screen - the picture before the password/user log in
  6. And its all back working again - now the pesky updates has been rolled back Does anyone at Microsoft pay any attention to the feedback left ( ie why do you want to roll back/un install)? and the next thing to look for is how to stop the thing form updating
  7. Thanks, after a bot of searching online, it would appear that there is no fix. what is it with updates that make things worse??
  8. I use the wake on lan function with my home pc for remote access, however widnows 10 has just updated to the creators update and WOL now no longer works. ive turned fast start up off in the power options but no luck
  9. Fitting went mostly OK, ( after cutting my finger on a sharp edge in the case. Its currently sat with a fan on the side of the case bring air in, and the radiator fans pushing air out of the case. Idle temp is now between 32 to 40C and under load it gets no higher than 55c however with the fans turned to full via the fan xpert program the temps drop whilst under load to around 45c and when idle the cpu temp is approximately 10c above ambient room temperature
  10. Hopeful the annoying CPU temperature exceeding 65C overheat warnings will go away its currently chugging away at 55C idle lying on its side, going up to 68C when watching anything on you tube /iplayer. Stand it upright and the temp just keeps climbing about 1 degree ever other second until it hits 85, then suddenly switches off One thing i never quite got to understand ( and spent a while faffing around with) Should the fan blow air from the outside onto the radiator and into the case, blow air through the radiator and out of the case, or suck air through the radiator and out of the case?
  11. Ordered. hopefully will fit OK
  12. any thoughts on something like this https://www.scan.co.uk/products/cooler-master-seidon-120v-version-30-aio-water-cooling-kit-quiet-compact-120mm-pwm-fan-radiator-for-? Placing the Pc on its side drops the idle temp to 50 and load to 65 about a 10-15C differnece
  13. I'm just after something quite that cools well and doesnt make too much noise.
  14. Ive had the thing in there for a while ( few years?) so i've lost the receipt. oddly if i put my pc on its side( so the pump is loer than the cooler) it appears to be ok for a while Looks like it could be time for a replacement, any recommendations im on a tight budget ( under £60) and i'm after something that doesnt make too much noise
  15. Panel off, it drops a little although not a lot, and then soon ramps up to 70c+ I tried cleaning the paste+re=applying and its made no difference. There does seem to be an odd noise from the pump, sort of a whirring noise then it sounds as if something gurgling, then it dies down the temperature drops down to 50 for a while, before climbing back up to 60 to 75 to 85C then my pc shuts off
