1. I was wondering whether it might be give me a "securer" connection as it better connector?
2. Well I have unplugged the Graphics Card and reseated it. Haven't noticed any blackouts as yet. My 17" LCD Monitor accepts both DVI and VGA (D-Sub) connections, as does my Graphics Card with the added HDMI. Would getting a DVI Cable be a good step forward?
3. That was really good. Only thing I have very slight niggle about is the text at the end, before the Red Bull can rolls through. Could of been left a little longer to read it. I just about read it before the letters got mixed up. But other then that, really good :D
4. Not to doubt your expertise, but would a machine that is not even a week old yet, have dirty contacts? I will give it a go though just to see. Unfortunately, I don't have or no anyone who has a monitor I can borrow. The only thing close to a monitor is my 32 HD TV, which I could connect to the PC via HDMI Cable, but that wouldn't really solve the issue if it's the VGA connection.
5. Hmm, both ends seem to be pretty secure. Gave them a gentle wiggle and the screen remained on. Took the PC end of the cable off and the Pins look fine.
6. Hi all, I just recently bought a barebundle kit from Novatech, with graphics card (Gigabyte GT430 1gb) and just this last couple of days, randomly, the screen just goes black for about a second.. The monitors power light doesn't go out. Then it just comes back with "D-Sub" in the top right and then carries on as normal. Everything I believe is up to date. I know for a fact my graphics card drivers are. It running at 1280x1024 on my 17" LCD monitor, which is what the graphics card recommended. Any idea what is going on? Read somewhere that it does this when the monitor is on its way out. But I had no issues with it on my old computer, only since this new one and after Googling, although no answer (or at least that I can find) other people have the same issue. I checked the voltage for my RAM (which I found could be a problem) and it's running at 1.50v which I believe is normal.
7. Thank you :) Well after much condsideration, I am going to buy a Barebundle from Novatech. The guys down there are very helpful in finding what I wanted with my price bracket in mind, which is only £250, really surprising mind what I can get for the price. :) This PC, before it blew the GFX Card, did just about ok with everything. I can really tell the difference now without the GFX Card installed. Lots of things from Videos to web viewing, has decreased so much :( I miss my card. Even Windows 7 gave my graphics score a 1.0 haha. The barebundle that I shall most probably get is: Intel Pentium G620 - 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz - Intel H61 Chipset Motherboard - 4 Bay ATX Tower Case & PSU Along with DVD r/w, already have the Hard drive and a GeForce GT430 Graphics card with 1gb DDR3 RAM. Been watching reviews on YouTube about it, seen it when I watched reviews on the GT520 which didn't review to well for what I wanted to do. For the price, it seems to be the right card for me. One reviewer said it was probably 2 times better then the 9600GT, so must be miles better then my old 8600GT 256mb.
8. Ah apologies, I see what you mean. It does state that there is 5.1 surround sound, so I am guessing it has a pretty good sound card already, maybe already the PCI slot is used already for that purpose? My current PC has a PCI Slot and a PCI-E X16 slot, but it has intergrated audio front and back. Many thanks though :) I have found a load more PC's on eBay, 98% of them all supporting 64bit Windows. Currently I have a P4 2.93ghz CPU, not compatible with 64bit. Would I be right in assuming, that anything from an Intel/AMD Dual Core and up, would be far quicker then my current PC? Money can't stretch to an I3 or above unfortunately, but so long as I get something with a quicker CPU, one with equal or better graphics card (I'd like everything new, including a new extra Graphics card if possible). Friend suggested repairing this one that blew its power cap, but then agreed it would be better to start all fresh, as who knows how much longer any of the other caps will last.
9. That's not my sole reason to upgrade though. My PC has a P4 Processor, which doesn't support Windows 64 bit. I have seen many cards that are PCI-E x16 compatible. One I was thinking of getting, as adviced by Novatech, was with DDR3 ram.
10. Apologies if this isn't the right section to post it in, wasn't really sure where else to put it. :) Been looking around for a while now at getting a new computer. Come across a couple of good ones on eBay from what seems to be a great seller, with 3000+ Positive reviews. I would like my PC to be able to run 3D rendering programs such as Daz Studio and Poser Pro. Which require Open GL 3.0 or above. I am not a hardcore PC gamer, only Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 http://forums.mg-rover.org/images/smilies/lol.gif . My current PC ran the above very well. My Graphics card (GeForce 8600GT) decided to blow a power cap last night and scared the live poop out of me. So anyway, couple of the PC's I was looking: 1] AMD AM3 Quad Core X645 + Processor 8 GB of RAM DDR3 1333 MHz 1TB SATA Hard Drive DVD/RW, Card Reader, 6 USB, ATI Radeon HD3000 Graphics, On Board Graphic Max. Memory Share Up to 512 MB, Support ATI Hybrid Crossfire, 1 x PCI-E x16 2.0 Slot For future Upgrades, 5.1 channel surround sound. £245 or 2] AMD Quad Core X640 + Processor4 GIG of RAM DDR3 1333, 500GB SATA Hard Drive NVIDIA GeForce 8200 GPU, On Board Graphic Max. Memory Share Up to 512MB Pci 16x slot for future graphic upgrades 5.1 surround sound output and as above with DVD drive, media slots, etc. £220 I'm thinking the first one as it has more "beefyness" to it, but don't want anything too crazy. But maybe what with most modern programs requiring a more powerful rig, that is the way to go.
11. Isn't it just. Certainly gave me (and my guinea pig who was on my lap) a fright haha Least it wasn't one on the Motherboard or PCU leaving my PC un-useable
12. Well she lasted since 2007, so a good run I guess, with playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 on Max setting, Secondlife on High (not extreme) and then using Daz 3d and Poser Pro. I am getting a new PC shortly anyway so not overly bothered now, but shame it didn't do it AFTER I got my new one lol.. but then as my friend said, it's better it have gone now, then in my new machine.
13. Late last night, I did some last minute renders on my newly installed Poser, when all of a sudden a huge pop (the sound of a ruler slapping a desk) came from the PC. Poser continued to render with no problem and the PC didn't seem to alter in performance. After trying to find the answer on Google, I come across that it was quite possible a Power Cap had gone. So fearing the worst, turned the PC off and went to bed. Woke up this morning, took the side off the computer and with my trusty torch, looked around the motherboard. All the powercaps seem fine, no bulging or leakage. So took out the graphics card and come across this: Would that of caused the loud noise I heard lastnight? It would seem my Nvidia GeForce 8600GT 256mb either just had enough or Poser was to much for it. Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing before? Now running off my Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, which is horrible lol, can't render, Aero doesn't work on Win7 or anything :S I am waiting to hear back for a loan to get a new PC, but this had to happen now BEFORE I get a new one ... sods law? lol
14. The machine I am looking at getting supports 64-bit Windows 7, which I got with my upgrade disc, it states in the installation that you have to go from 32bit to 64bit Windows 7 from boot up, unlike upgrading XP to 7 whilst actually in Windows.
15. Novatech is a good place to buy Barebone computers > http://www.novatech.co.uk/barebonebundles/
