  1. DVD/pc tray will only open after repeated attempts but no activity on screen and tray light goes out after 60 secs. I cannot transfer the pics on my phone to my w10 pc. Both are recent issues for say 4 weeks.
  2. how do i delete what seems to be a virus or something similar that is popping up on my browser pages (google chrome) and is now taking up massive space in my downloads. when i've tried to manually delete the things they come back into the downloads list even more rapidly.
  3. A few months ago i could stream with few difficulties other than buffering. Now i often cant get a moving pic or more likely the programme plays but there is no sound. I'musually attempting to stream football or say BBC2 - same result no matter the channel? I'm W7 on chrome. My pc is reasonably new and powerful with lots of space. No issues prior to this.
  4. Thank you all three of you for replying. However, i'm no further ahead - nothing will remove it or reveal to me how to remove it. There's a safety issue, according to my security scanner, in that the old version that i have is leaky, and it must be removed before the new version can be installed. Actually i should be glad to see the back of Foxit
  5. how would i uninstall foxit reader - i've tried searching on my W7 and on google but it refuses to uninstall. Neither does foxit have any uninstall "button".
  6. Thank you for the info so far. Unfortunately, i'm ill and, at the moment, cant get around to doing what you suggest. Later, i will try. thank you once again.
  7. 8. Thanks for replying. I attempted to download AdwCleaner from your prompt above and i immediately run into confusion. Of the two suggestions "Download Now" & "Download Here" neither will go to my desktop. I have bottom left of this page AdwCleaner(4).exe When i click it, it takes me to a series of prompts that seem to go nowhere?
  9. I noticed another, earlier, thread ref PUP's, and followed the advice to download what i thought was Adw Cleaner from CCNET (?). However, i now have a thing called Reg Clean Pro ( although i clicked the download Ad Cleaner button) on my desktop and i dont know how to get rid of it. AAMOI: the Reg Cleaner Pro claims to have detected over 200 errors.
  10. I ran a scan on the free malware bytes anti malware on my W7 PC and it shows one item detected: (Vendor) PUP. Optional.C ... (Category) File (Item) C:\Users\PC\App There is also a small green icon or bug like thing. I attempted to remove this item but it wont budge. Am i doing the correct thing in trying to remove it?
  11. Sorry for the delay. However, i've had my computor in the repair shop and security has been rejigged. Now to wait and see. Thank you all again.
  12. Thank you both for your replies. I apologise for the delay in returning. Installed: I have Avast, and the Microsoft security that comes with windows 7 - i also have Malwarebytes installed. AAMOF: since first contacting this forum i've had no more odd happenings - which still doesn't explain the earlier intrusions.
  13. ken, randy and starbuck, Thank you so much for your replies. I didn't get back to this thread because i couldn't locate it - i've just noticed it while doing something else above. Thank you again, tom
  14. Thank you both for your replies, I already have, and had, Malwarebytes and Avast and Microsoft security in operation. I have run the scan and nothing to report. How to cut and paste and post on here is beyond me, i'm afraid. I've done my best at clearing cookies and some other items. However, whats on the advice pages for "Deleting Cookies" etc. and what's on my PC are slightly different eg. locating google chrome "tools" is a mystery, i cannot locate it.
  15. I have visited a free porn site in the past, but never entered it by signing in or revealing my email address or any other details. Now i have an email from the site pop up in my email provider box saying that i now have a password for the site - i haven't opened it. On my mobile phone an obscene message has appeared, but no source, or identifier, is apparent - i haven't opened it either. There are no "unsecure" connections between my mobile phone and my computer that i'm aware of. What should i do about the above, and how did these disturbing leaks in security occur? I have avast, malware and microsoft security in place and no other breaches have, as far as i'm aware, occurred.
