thank you for replying. yes i am sure i am selecting the cd/dvd drive. and i think the drive is OK and working. it loads the CD goes through all of the tests that it should be going through and it says they "pass" and then it brings me back to the main screen where it gives me options as to what test(s) i want to run. im just not sure what i am suppose to do next. i asked an IT at work to look at it but i think he is too busy to do anything for me.

My hard drive died a few days ago and I had to go buy a new one. Bought a WD scorpio blue 500gb for my dell inspiron 1750. Installed the new hard drive into my laptop. grabbed the original cds that came with my computer to re-install everything and get my laptop going again. i put the cd in hit f12 so i can boot it up through the cd/dvd drive. go through all the tests and then nothing happens. when i turn my laptop on it still says "no bootable device" and im not sure where to go from here. any help will be greatly appreciated.
