  1. Thanks for replying. The port was identical to a PS2, and since all the ports/plugs in this particular machine were the same color . . . Anyway, I did all that. I got standard POST beeps. I plugged in everything one at a time until I was left with the beep sound for no ram. When I plugged in the RAM, I got the continous short beeps again.
  2. Please help. I have an old PC with a Samsung Harappa-12 motherboard. Today, while plugging in my mouse, I mistakenly plugged in a 320 volt AC charger into the mouse port. I got a vague burning smell, though when I removed the case there was no smoke and no components looked fried or were heated. When I turned the machine on, it began giving out a series of non-stop short beeps. The RAM works; the samsung logo appears on the screen, and when the hard drive is connected it boots to windows and sticks there. VGA is onboard, an 845 chipset, and it works. When the hard drive is disconnected, it says "Operating System not found", as per usual. Please help. I have no idea what to identify the faulty component.
