  1. Thanks, There is no manual to speak of. The details above and your email message will be useful I am sure but I will not see thie gentleman until next Friday. Good point, does he actually have a webcam. I took his word for it and never realised some may just have a hole. Will be back in a few days time Thanks.
  2. Sorry to be doing this secondhand. I will try to sign him up myself next time we meet. Here is all I know. Windows 7 Home Premium Hewlett Packard HPG72 plus already mentioned . Not touchscreen, Laptop.
  3. In the history there are the same six items entered for several days running being each time I have tried to install. I have been onto everything I can find about correcting failed updates and at one point MS suggested it was maleware that was preventing the action. I contact my security provider, Norton on their chat line. They have taken over my computer, tried to do updates after disabling security and done a deep scan but no waleware found. They say, the suggestion of maleware may just be an automated reply. Norton say contact MS but I am back to the beginning because I cannot contact anyone at MS so just get running around the same troubleshooting pages.. Double clicking gives me an error code which is what i have been searching on.
  4. Computer is a Hewlett Packard laptop, I cannot see a model name. It is not a touch screen. Is this enough information to find webcam. Unfortunately , elderly friend will npot register.
  5. No, no system restore previously but after three weeks or so I cannot rember what I did do. Should have kept a note but did not expect the same problem again.
  6. Not sure whether he would register as he gets a little up tight but will put it to him BB
  7. updates will not install This goes back for several months so I cannot do a restore over this time as I would get rid of anything since that time.
  8. Windows 7 home premium, system tells me there are 5 updates. I click install and after several minutes get the message cannot install try again but even then nothing installs. This is bad enough but now EVERYTIME I shut down the installs begin again. I have to wait 5 or 6 minutes for the computer to shut down. About three weeks ago I had help from another site and the problem went away for a couple of days. Help please.
  9. Hi everyone. I joined a couple of days ago. I live in the West Midlands.
  10. Thanks, I know it's a laptop and not a touch screen but I will have to wait until I see the man on friday to find the make. will be back thanks
  11. With a touch screen it is simple for me to turn on my webcam. I have an elderly friend with windows 7. How can he turn on his webcam?
