On the recommendation of (one of) my online banks, I installed Rapport. Without commenting on its effectiveness, results were that my internet connection became unacceptably slow, and automatic connection - to the www and Outlook Express - was disabled. I could connect only through the dial-up icon in Control Panel/Network and Internet connections.
The issues were resolved by using System Restore to a point prior to installing Rapport, but that process took several hours to complete, instaed of the usual few minutes!
