Ken,
The hard drive was frozen! It does not show in Diskmanagement. Tried a different usb port and the adapter is working fine. Tried it with my partners laptop HD.
I noticed that after it showed up on the desktop setup menu, the PC wouldn't boot! I disconnected the rogue drive and my desktop booted as normal.
Hi Ken,
Did what you suggested but no luck. The drive is not being recognized.
However, when I re-booted my desktop and went into the setup menu, the drive was recognized there. Not on windows explorer though.
Hi.
I have a similar problem. The hard drive on my Acer laptop seems to have given up. It's a Western Digital Scorpio drive with 250Gb and it was running Windows Vista. I've tried connecting it to my desktop using a 2.5 inch SATA to USB adapter which is running Windows 7 Ultimate but when connected, my desktop slows down temporarily then reports that the laptop HD is not available. So I can't gain access to the drive. My desktop has a Pentium 4 3.0GHz and 4Gb RAM. Is there anything I can do to get my desktop to recognise the 2.5" drive?
