  1. HiI've seen a few posts about this but I either couldn't understand them or couldn't get them to work (i'm not that great with computers so probably my fault!) Basically, i've been given a copy of QuarkXpress7 which I'm supposed to use to put together a local paper. The trouble is my laptop has windows vista so it keeps saying that it can't install the quark disc. I read 7.3 is the first quark version that is compatible with vista, but I just wondered is there a simple way to get version 7 to work with vista ? (as i doubt they will purchase quark 7.3 especially) I've tried using the compatibility wizard, which i read might work on one forum, but it still seemed to do nothing and the disc just wouldn't load. As i say i'm not that great with technical stuff so if there is an answer I could do with an easy step by step guide to what I could do.Thanks very much for any help :-)
  2. Ah that could be the answer then cos the photos were jpg files. The only others i tried with were sound files mp3 and wav format.
  3. Hi I was just wondering if someone could advise me on zipping a file. Not sure if i'm doing something obvious wrong. To zip a file i thought you just right clicked on it and chose 'send to zipped folder'. But when i do this my original file, which is 15.5mb, only becomes 14mb in the zipped folder when i click properties. I wanted to send it by email but when i attach the 'zipped file' it still takes ages and takes up 14mb. I've also had this problem with photos where i seem to have zipped a file but the size has only changed slightly and not enough to make any difference when emailing. Thanks very much for any advice :-)
  4. Hi I'm trying to make a dvd of some songs with videos for my Dad. I downloaded the program Vdownloader, so i can download videos from youtube. This seemed fine and i got all the videos downloaded in a folder then burned them to a dvd disc on my laptop. But when i put the disc in my dvd player connected to my TV, it just keeps sticking on loading and doing nothing. The files are VLC media file (.mp4) format and they play ok on my laptop using VLC media player. But do i need to convert the files to a different format to play through my tv and dvd player ? Thanks very much for any help, sorry if its a daft question, i must admit my knowledge isnt very good. Merry Christmas all :-)
