  1. Wouldn't update as advised it was at latest. In any event today now back working OK
  2. W10 10 PC with an NVidia Geforce GTX 560 TI graphics card. Connected to a Samsung S23C650 monitor. (via a KVM) Usually used in a High res mode ... working fine earlier, shut down when I started up again ... it is in low res 1024 x 768 Under Settings >Display it does not list any higher res settings .... such as the normally used 2560 x 1600. Under device Manager it shows card without any error icon .. and it shows no driver updated since March. No error - just low resolution.
  3. OK ... resolved. It was not hardware as suggested (thankfully) it was as I expected W10 corruption. Contacted Microsoft support - they carried out a rest of W10 to original default settings ............ and all works again OK ... resolved. It was not hardware as suggested (thankfully) it was as I expected W10 corruption. Contacted Microsoft support - they carried out a rest of W10 to original default settings ............ and all works againResolved Resolved - Microsoft W10 upgrade help desk ... logged in and after a bit of checking advised to reset all to W10 default settings - removing all customisations .... and it fixed teh issue. Now have to reinstall several programs - but at least it's fixed.
  4. anybody any idea how to resolve this ?
  5. Interesting then that Fb help files only advice for this issue is to upgrade Flash .. bit out of date then
  6. I have run Malwarebytes - nothing found SuperAnti spoyware - nothing found sfc /scannow dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth chkdsk /r /f No errors on any of these. Tried on other PC's works fine (confirming my account is OK) ... same pictures open & load to other sites fine. Created a 'new account' on this PC ... upload fails So it must be something on the W10 config.
  7. I did uninstall first using IObit uninstaller.
  8. As mentioned in original post ... yes its same with MS Edge. So not a Firefox issue .... and it works fine on other PC's via Firefox
  9. Loading exactly the method you described. The photos are standard jpeg and only around 1Mb ... and load fine via phone - so not the image file Confirm it works fine from phone and from another PC ...... so proves FB account is fine ....so it is something specific to my W10 PC I have installed latest FLASH and tried it with Ant-virus disabled - no difference ...... points to it being a W10 config problem.
  10. I know this is browser related - but a bit stuck where to go for help. On W10 I access Facebook via Firefox For past couple of week I have been unable to attach any pictures to Facebook .... (Firefox v48.02) Also as a test tried MS Edge - same fault I get a moving bar that looks like its in progress then after a few minutes it just fails and goes back to the post ... occasionally it gives the word 'Error' and a blank pic with an 'x' but not every time. If I add pictures to FB via my phone it works fine, so proves account & the pictures are OK. So must be PC config related. I tried the advice to make sure no old versions of Flash installed, and version is current. Also deleted history & cache. May help ... on help pages for FB it say to use option on main page to 'report a problem' when I try that I again get the moving bar and failure to complete ... so can't even report the problem. (did report from phone but response seems to be, thanks but we may never reply)
  11. I'd stick to 32bit ... not worth spending money of new RAM
  12. it has 1GB ram and an Athlon 64X2 dual processor 2.5GHz I certainly would not install Vista .......... though it might be worthwhile installing W7
  13. OK .. just spent another several Hrs of fun. One important thing I found it is IE related ONLYI installed FireFox and that works fine .. allowed me to manually get SP3. & Kaspersky Ran diagnostics it says HTTP, HTTPS & FTP is blocked .. and to change Firewall settings. I disabled Windows Firewall as Kasperky installed (and working fine with Firefox) Run diagnostics - same error I found some IE and internet diagnostics on MS web site .. CAB files .... but XP does not know what to do with them, even if I unzip first it still does not know what to run files with. I then found another IE fix entitled IEFIX .... ran all of that and it reports all is fine. Need to get IE working as I can't get MS updates without it.
  14. my sons PC has been getting very slow .... Dell E521 but no errors and no network issues. Decided to do a clean install of all. So used the Dell OS re-install to put in a clean install of XP-Professional Obviously first thing to do is to get network connectivity all OK ... then I can look at newer OS All OK ... other than it is prompting for network validation. Also ran the Dell drivers resource cd to install all the drivers. At this point Ethernet works - to a fashion - but not correctly. By default it has IE6 ... when I for example type in bbc.co.uk it will go to that site OK (site complains browser is too old) If I try Amazon.co.uk - fails Google - fails Microsoft update site - fails Microsoft activation site fails Kaspersky main site fails Kaspersky HTTPS for download fails The failure is 'cannot find server or DNS error' I went to IE >Tools >internet options >connections > LAN settings : set to Automatically detect settings then tried >Tools >internet options >connections >Setup >connect to internet >set up connection manually >connect using Broadband that is always on Still the same. Also tried using set up a home network ... it was happy to connect to router but still browsing issues. What am I missing ?
  15. Did that as soon as it was fixed. Not sure if it will be any use as never had a restore point that will work. Did it any way though.
