  1. Thank you so much !!!!!!!!!!! No "Up-arrow" anywhere on screen. Followed your second option and success. :):)
  2. Hi, my screen display has suddenly shrunk and now does not fill the screen. I have obviously done something wrong inadvertently. I have looked at all the articles about resizing, ie "right clicking desktop and selecting different pixel displays" but that does not alter the size of the display. I am now stumped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this is in the wrong place
  3. Just to update this thread. I opened the ISO file with PowerIso, found the file I wanted to alter. I could only open that file with NotePad, so I copied it, changed the value I needed to, and saved that file Using PowerIso, I deleted the original file and added my newly created file. Everything looks OK, but it doesn't work....................... so perhaps I'm no further forward. It maybe doesn't work because the value I changed causes problems, or the method I used was wrong. If I find out I will update
  4. Yes, I've seen those instructions. They seem to suggest what I put in the post above. As I said I can open the main iso file with PowerIso, but when I change values in the subfiles, I cannot save those changes. I'll try and do what I thought might be the case and see what happens.
  5. Hi, I have an ISO file containing numerous sub files, and I want to change a couple of the values in one of those files. When I open an individual sub-file, it opens in Notepad, and I can change the values I want to change, but I cannot then save that changed file. On the help tutorials for PowerIso, it appears that I can delete or add a file, and I was wondering, do I have to create a new sub-file with the values changed, and then delete the old sub-file and add the new one. It just seems a long way of doing a simple change.......................but I don't know the answer.
  6. Dokie, The prog was "Sea Tools for Windows Version 1.20.10 " . Following all of this, I reformatted the HD, again, fired up the media player and connected the HD. It eventually registered the files and I was able to access them. Disconnected using the approved "eject" procedure, and I was able to run chkdsk with no faults found. Tried the same set up 3 times, and so far, everything is fine. I can only assume that the problems were caused by failing to disconnect the HD correctly. Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction ...................but keep checking cos I'm sure I'll be back. Ha Ha !!!
  7. Full diagnostic/repair scan completed, 6 hours, with no errors found or repaired. chkdsk would not complete although it found errors. I reformatted the HD and ran chkdsk again...................no errors found great !!!! Added a couple of files to HD , connected to TV via media player. Message that no media files on disc ( I could view them OK on PC screen ) . after disconnection , tried chkdsk and the unrepairable errors were back !!! Completely stumped now.
  8. Dokie, sorry for misunderstanding, downloaded prog from Seatools and running now. Will update this thread when completed. Thanks again
  9. DSTM : Just to learn a bit, why is that ?
  10. Thanks guys: Dokie.........I think that download is to test a WD hard drive. In fact the HD I am using is a Seagate. The problem is with the CHKDSK command in Windows. If I could get that to run on the HD, then I believe it would solve the problem However .................Wellies, I will try a reformat. I think its NTFS at the moment, but I don't know what difference that makes ?
  11. Wellies, not sure about the file limit with WD player, however, the HD that I am using only has about 40GBs of files on. Although my knowledge is very limited compaqred with probably most contributors to these fora , I have a feeling that the problem has been caused by me just pulling the USB lead to disconnect the HD. If I could only get Windows to do the "Check/Repair" , I think I would be OK. What about a full re-format, do you think that would help ?
  12. Oh yes.....they are all backed-up.................once bitten, twice shy !!!!
  13. Thanks for that info Wellies. The files that are on are a mixture of mp4, avi, mkv etc, . I have added files to the HD since the "problem" occured , and some I can view, others I get a message saying that there is "No media in this file" . If I connect with the PC, I can view everything with no problem. I have tried to do a scan from "MyPC" and right click the drive, however as I said in the first post, the scan will not complete , I'm sure if it would complete, the problem would be fixed. I get the feeling now that it has been caused by failing to "Safely Remove Hardware" ............I have just been pulling the jack out of the media drive, instead of shutting it down. I feel there should be a way to get the scan to work and repair the minor probs. , but I don't know how ?
  14. Hi, iI have been using a 1tb HD attached to TV via a Western Digital Media Player, to play downloaded films/tv series etc. , but recently when I move the drive and attach to PC to add further files, I get a message to say that errors have been detected on the drive, please scan and repair. This happened a few times. and the HD worked fine. Recently, I get the same message when I connect the HD and PC, but the Scan/Repair cycle will not complete. I get a message saying that " Error Checking : There was a problem repairing this drive " Is there anyway I can get this to run, or somehow fix the drive ?
