Panic over. Just done a clean install and it's all working sweet as a nut.

It's a wired connection and the same router I was using previously. It just doesn't seem right to be taking that long to connect. I am going to start from scratch again and see if anything changes.

Thanks for the reply Vr5fx. Just finished rebuilding my system. World of difference to my last one and the bios was so much nicer to use. So far everything has been running brilliant except one small niggle. Windows boots in 25 seconds but it takes a further 2.5-3 minutes for the internet connection to become live. My old Asus M3A79-T never took this long. The internet connection icon in the bottom right corner has the little blue circle over it and just before it goes live it briefly has a yellow exclamation mark over it. BTW my new board is the same as yours but the R2.0 version with a Realtek pcie GBE family controller. Any thoughts?

Hi, I've just ordered a new motherboard that has UEFI bios on it. This is going to be new for me so I was wondering if there are any pitfalls to look out for when I do my new build this weekend. I know that Vr5FX has a mobo with this bios on it so they maybe the one to shed some light on this. The build will use my trusty Phenom 965 BE and 8gb of Samsung green ddr3 a OCZ Vertex 2E 120gb SSD and 500gb HDD, will also utilize my HD7850 GPU. OS will be Windows 7 pro.

I did a little digging to find some information on the AFOX NVIDIA GT440 and from what i can find it has a power consumption of 56w and takes it power from the PCIe slot.

Just an extra thought seeing as you say you would be buying from your local shop. You could always purchase the Cooler and offer it up to your board to check for clearances over your RAM in the four different mounting posistions. As long as you don't peel off the plastic on the pre applied thermal paste or open any of the sealed packaging you should be to return it to the shop or maybe take your computer to the shop and ask if they could offer it up to your board to check.

I have the Arctic Freezer 13 Pro fitted on my AMD processor and i have only two fitting positions available to me and the heatsinks on my ram are only small compared to the Corsair ones and my cooler only just clears them. But looking at your option to turn the cooler 90 degress looks as if it should clear the RAM.

Have you tried using an alternative email account to reset your password? I also recall a form i filled in where it asked if i could name some of the senders of emails that would of been in my inbox, can you use that as extra information to give them?

I'm afraid it doesn't look like it will support that particular CPU. The Piledriver you are looking at has a TDP of 125w whereas the board you have linked only supports CPU TDP up to 95w. It will run this CPU though http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-338-AM&groupid=701&catid=1967&subcat=1825 . The board will take upto 16gb of RAM as long as you are running 64bit Windows OS. The graphics card you have and the HD7950 will both run on this board too but bear in mind the HD7950 requires a PSU with 500w or more output and also it needs two 75w six pin connections.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your motherboard will not support either of those CPU's. The AMD Piledriver is AM3+ socket whilst the Intel i7 is socket LGA1155, your present motherboard supports AM2/AM2+ and AM3 CPU's. You would need a different board for either of those CPU's as one is Intel and one AMD. Intel are more expensive and considered by many to be better than AMD but that does not mean that AMD's offerings are not any good, it's down to your personal preference and budget. The Overclockers site you link has some very good offerings from AMD and Intel and frequently have weekly offers on so it can be worthwhile regularly checking for good deals.

Hi tintac. When using Google Chrome you can change the destination folder where you want your downloads to go to. If you click on the three lines in the top of your browser and click on settings this will open your setting page in a new tab. At the bottom of your page click on show advanced settings (in blue at the bottom). Scroll down to where it says downloads and you will see a box showing your download destination folder. Next to it is a box titled change, click on this and change to the destination folder you prefer. I have mine set to download to a download folder. Hope this helps.

The 64 bit interface of the card doesn't matter. As an example my operating system is 64 bit but my card is 128 bit. It looks like the motherboard is not picking up the card for some reason. Maybe a case of it not liking the card which happens sometimes.

Okay so the card isn't showing in Speccy. It is showing your motherboards onboard graphics device. You need to disable that. You will probably have to do this by entering your Bios and change your primary graphics adapter to PCI-e.

You need to uninstall the nvidea drivers first otherwise you will get conflicts. 1. Uninstall the nvidea drivers then shut down your pc. 2. Carefully remove the old card and install the new one. 3. Reboot your pc windows will automatically designate a driver so you will have a display. 4. Got to the AMD page i gave you early and download the drivers. 5. Run the Catalyst Control Centre installer choosing the automatic option and allow it to go through its installation. 6. When the installer has finished it will as you to reboot. Do this and upon reboot your drivers and card should be working. Try this and see how you get on.

The AMD card should of had more than enough memory to run those games. You mentioned that you were given the card, could it of been possible that it wasn't working before you got it. There suitable cards out there that can be had for around the fifty pound mark. Try looking at the AMD HD6670.

Your read out with speech is showing that you have a GeForce graphics card installed not the Radeon HD 5450 have you swapped them back again?

The memory interface on the graphics card shouldn't matter. The fact that your system is 32bit will just determine which direct x version you can run. Drive installing the drivers from the link I gave you as they are the latest version for your card.
