no everthing looks ok

I have an acer aspire ax3910 i went on holiday came back and now have no sound Click on volume tab right hand corner playback devices and the speaker icon greyed out with red cross on it cant click on it to make it default sound and vid controlers intel (R High def audio hdmi, realtek high def audio i can use usb sound card eveything ok but rear speaker jacks and front panel earphone just cant get sound revert back to factory settings using e recovery also with the disks made from when first bought still no luck downloaded unbuntu disk sound ok will leads to think its a windows problem been trying for a week know but no luck have had three experts from just ask no luck there either:(
