  1. Hello Ken I tried safe mode with command prompt and everthing else on the options-many many times but nothing worked.I was unable to type anything in.It always went back to configuring updates but I had not tried to install any updates so I don't know what it was trying to configure! As my pc started and stopped 100+ times by itself,I'm amazed it is not broken.I have finally managed to get the Vista dvd to work after days of trying and restored the system to last week and, eureka! it's going again. Thank you for your suggestions Alan
  2. Hello I closed down my vista desktop pc as normal without trying to install updates but when I turned it on the next day I got the above message.I have tried to start the pc using every method on the Boot list many times without success. It turns off and restarts forever, even when I click Disable automatic restart on system failure.I selected the Vista DVD for priority start up but just get a blank screen then it goes back to configuring updates, restarting, etc. Can anybody please help?
