Hi,
I'm experiencing a problem which is a bit mystifying to me.
When surfing the net the other day my computer crashed, after which ;would only boot in safe mode.; (Windows XP with SP3);
I could only access my file tree, which showed that all files and folders had disappeared.; All I could get was a black screen with "windows is running in safe mode" displayed.;
Believing windows was at fault, I physically removed the hard drive and installed this in another desktop machine running Windows 7; I hoped that all my info would be accessed in this way; When selecting "My computer", the disc drive and all its partitions were shown, with data detected by blue bars extending part way across each partition indicator, and the appropriate "used" and "free space" numbers being given; No access could be gained to the data itself, as Windows reported that the partitions were empty with the exception of one, which looked to contain files of windows XP.
How could data be detected, yet windows 7 reports that the partitions are empty, and more importantly, how can I get access to my "lost" information.
All help gratefully appreciated.
Ron
