Ok I'm back. I pretty much had my settings the way you all seem to. I have kept 3d party cookies. I unchecked the cookies option on Ccleaner in both IE (which I don't use) and Firefox (which I do) and for the moment all is going well. If it all goes bad again I will abandon Cc altogether. Thank you all for your help and time.

Sorry I've taken so long to reply but I have been away overnight. I also won't be back until tonight (hopefully) this time too. I don't think I am explaining myself very clearly which s a drawback of mine. What I meant was, even tho it says all cookies cleared I have to log in whether I sign out or not, but only on some sites. I gave gmail as an example. I asked on a gmail forum as was told that it had to be cookies clearing. On gmail for instance it matters not if I sign out or not it still goes to 2 step sign in. Starbuck, yes bitdefender was a leftover which I kept forgetting about. It's gone now. You could be onto something with Ccleaner. I'll check it out. Any reason you omit 3d partycookies? Are they bad? As I say, I won't be back until tonight at the earliest but your assistance is appreciated.

I'm going to have to go now. Babysitting duties. I will return when I can. Just to confirm, when I log out it tells me that all cookies are cleared. Thanks for taking the time.

Sorry DTSM, your privacy page is set like what? Also scroll through what list and even if I could how would I know what is missing? Sorry for being thick here!!
-
HelloPlastic Nev. To open that part of Privacy I have to change from 'remember history' to 'use custom settings for history' (sorry I've just seen that I've already said that), anyway when that is done the box you mention is unchecked. Is it supposed to go back to remember history do you think. Not important just now, just thinking.
-
hello DTSM. All browser settings seem ok. Yes that passwords box is checked.

How do I make Firefox 29.0.1 keep my cookies? I am having to go through signing in again on nearly every site I visit. Lets use my Gmail account as an example and lets say I get to it through 'Bookmarks'. It opens on a 'register/sign-in' page. I'm already registered so I click sign-in. It then takes me to the sign in page! All then is as normal. I am using Windows 8.1.1. I have tried the Tools>options>Privacy route. Now I am assuming that I should be using the 'use customs settings for history' box? Well when I do the boxes I have ticked are, Remember my browsing & download history. Remember search & form history. Accept cookies from sites Accept all third party cookies 'always'. Now remember I'm only assuming that those are the correct settings but I have tried a combination of them all. Anyway when I have them set as above I click ok and close the options box. It matters not whether I re-open in straight away or in another browsing session, the 'Use customs settings for history' box, has reverted to 'Remember History'. Is that normal? Whether tis or not Firefox is not letting me keep my cookies, so has anyone any idea what I am doing wrong? Oh and I have tried in safe mode and it remains the same.

Hi Starbuck, Yes I noticed Trend was there when I sent that last report. I thought I had removed it with Revo un-installer a while ago. I looked in add/rem but there was nothing there. I did a search immediately and I have removed it now.

Oh dear, I don't know how to say this. Well I logged on today and it took 6min for the title bar (faded) to appear, another 30sec for it to be as it should be. It then took another 8, yes eight minutes for my browser to appear and another 45 seconds for the cursor to turn from a hourglass to a pointer. Let me say though that it has taken this long in the past, just not lately. So all in all I'm afraid I would say, no change. Thanks for the help though.
