  1. I'm finding it impossible to print booklets on my Canon MG5650 inkjet from my Asus computer running Windows7. I've already returned the first machine under the guarantee, but the second one is presenting the same problem. I've been assured by a number of people from Canon and other sources that there is nothing wrong with the printer, but I have seen references to this problem being related to Windows 7. Has anyone else encountered this, and can anyone suggest a solution. As you can tell from my username, I'm not exactly a computer expert!
  2. Choosing a DVD burner Sorry not to have come back earlier, but a holiday and several family commitments disorganised me - not difficult to do. Thank you Kenb for the information which you sent me. I used it to form a choice, but before I could make it, my son told me that he was having a new PC made to his specification (he's like that!) and that I can have his old one - a lot newer than mine - which has a DVD burner built in. So my problem seems to have been solved - for free! Thanks again Ignoramus
  3. I have a large collection of photographs sitting on the hard drive of my HP Pavilion 433 computer. As it's now nearly ten years old, I'd like to transfer them to DVD before it dies. It has a DVD reader but no recorder, so I'm looking for a reasonably priced DVD burner so that I can back up my collection and also see them on my TV through my DVD player. It needs to be an external burner, since it seems pointless to install it within an elderly computer. Any suggestions would be welcome.
  4. Thanks for your help KenB. The key that I was told to use to get into BIOS was f8. However that only gave me two choices - first to carry on, and second to delete what had already been loaded, and still carry on. I was quite unable to navigate to anything more helpful. So I decided to try a low-tech approach. The power supply to my desk is a twin switched wall socket. I connected one side of this to a lead terminating in a twin socket. I plugged the hub and its accompanying Infinity modem into this. The other power outlet goes to a strip multi-plug into which I plugged the computer, printer, monitor etc. Now I can leave the hub with power, while turning off everything else. So the cpmputer can now sleep peacefully until I wake it. Sorry for the delay in reporting back, and again thanks for your help.
  5. Insomniac computer Thanks KB. I tried your suggestion of using F2 to enter BIOS, but it never appeared. What is it, incidentaly? I didn't choose my username by chance!
  6. I have an HP Pavillion 433 computer which has given us long and faithful service. We have always hibernated it when we have finished using it, and switched it off at the wall socket. We have just upgraded out BT broadband to Infinity, and were told that the hub should not be turned off, or we shall lose important information. Unfortunately the hub and the computer share a power socket, so the computer stays connected as well. Just recently, the computer has been coming out of hibernation at random times in the day and night. Is this a fault, and if so can anyone suggest a solution please?
  7. I've been a computer user for over 11 years, but in many ways I'm still a novice. So I hope I shall be able to benefit from your collective expertise, and even contribute the occasional helpful comment - though don't hold your breath.
