i had it running the other night and it went through chkdisk, finishes all that and starts loading to the normal desktop but is running really slow, i think its something to do with the memory but what do you guys think.

Ive just removed the battery and power cable, left it for about 5 mins put it all back together and the computer booted straight up and started running chkdisk so it seems to be working. If i get anymore problem i let you know but thanks for you help.

i have removed the battery before out of it but not for about a minute so i will try that and get back to you

Hi I dont get any POST beeps it turns on, I tried tapping F8 like you said and nothing happened. I was also reading somewhere about clearing the CMOS and reseating the components. Also tried running it with just with the basic periphals to run the computer I have the XP Upgrade disk for it

I have an old Compaq Deskpro but was working fine and yesterday it became slow on startup, now it only goes as the first screen which has the amount of memory you have in the top left corner and bottom right F10 to enter setup and thats how it stays. Hope someone can help me with this problem
