  1. Hi Ken, Thanks for all your advice. Still no joy, so in the end I partitioned my hard drive, put all data to one part and reinstalled Vista. It took best part of a day, however, I now have internet connection. Having searched around the net for problems involving “Reseting Echo Request, failed. Access is denied" & “"the operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation".” I am yet to see anyone who resolved it without a re-install. I think the registry or winsock had become corrunpted. I had spent several days trying to repair it without any luck. Thanks again
  2. If I complete netsh int ip install it just states restart. Upon doing this still no network. The above action still brings netsh int ip reset reset.log - brings "Reseting Echo Request, failed. Access is denied". thanks
  3. Hi, From an elevated command prompt: > netsh winsock reset catalog - brings "Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog" > netsh int ip reset reset.log - brings "Reseting Echo Request, failed. Access is denied". thanks
  4. Hi, Yes I have completed a restart following a Winsock reset and it does not change the connection. AVG 2013 has totally been removed and the problem remains. thanks
  5. Hi KenB, Thanks again for your advice. AVG has now gone, but still no in internet. Other similar accounts on the internet have stated that a OS reinstall is the only way of restoring internet , so Im considering this once Ive purchased something large enough to back my data up on to. cheers
  6. Hi, Followed the actions with the following results: netsh winsock reset > I get "Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog. You must restart" netsh int ip reset > I get "Reseting Echo Request, failed. Access is denied". ipconfig /renew > I get "the operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation". Kind regards
  7. Hi Ken, Thanks for getting back to me. Please excuse my limited knowledge. I tried the first sequence. When I type ipconfig /renew I get "the operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation". - Therefore I presume I stop there. With regards to Network and Sharing when I enter it has my pc then a red cross then the Internet. There is no Local area connection option there. I can click on Manage Network Connections which is on list of options to the left. Two items appear: Local Area Connection 2 which has a red cross over it and says Network cable unplugged: NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Next to it is a Wireless Network Connection 5. That has no cross full signal strength and says enabled. If I right click TCP/IPv6 is unchecked. All other instructions are as you say. I have disabled the Firewall - still refuses to connect wired or wireless. thanks
  8. Hi further to this, when I have googled 'hosts file' Spybot has come up on several search results. I have just remembered Ive recently uninstalled Spybot from the machine and disabled it in services through msconfig as it seemed to being making the maching 'hang' at start up. I have not had internet since. Could this be linked and how could I resolve it? thanks
  9. Hi Ken B. Unfortunately I dont have System Restore as it was not enabled. I have checked the Services as detailed all are listed as you have. Please find the contents of the hosts doc: # Copyright © 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost thanks for your help
  10. Hi Thanks for the reply. Yes I get 4 sent and received. No loss
  11. Hi, I would appreciate any help / advice. Please note I only have very basic knowledge of PC's. I have a 4 year old PC OS – Vista 64 bit. I use a TP Link WN722N USB wireless adapter to connect to the internet. However, for the past couple of days I have not been able to gain any Internet access Wireless or through an Ethernet cable. The router still works as I have other connections on it. The TP link Utility appears to see the wireless connection as it details signal strength but the network icon has a red cross over it. The trigger to the loss could have been caused by loss of power to router or a Registry Clean I completed. If I go into Network Adapters I have: > Nvidia nForce /10/100Mbps Ethernet > TP Link Mpbs Wireless Lite N Adapter Both adapters don't show an error. I have tried everything detailed on a google search including resetting TCP/ IP Stack, check disk, disabling network adapters and re-setting the router. Here is my Config All screen shot as I believe that will help. Any advice to get me back on line would be really appreciated.
