1. I've tried both, here are some screen shots http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii226/aaron_north1/1-4.jpg http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii226/aaron_north1/2-6.jpg I'll try uninstalling the drivers Thanks,
2. The adapter has come. I've plugged it in and installed the drivers from the disk etc but it can't find any networks.. I've looked at the properties on device manager and it's up to date and windows says it's working properly etc. I've also reset it by enabling/ disabling the adapter, nothing. Getting annoying now, I might just buy a new computer. Those new iMac's are looking good lol
3. Thanks, I've ordered the USB adapter, I'll let you know how I get on
4. 11.62Mb/s, reinstalled the network adapter - 11.52Mb/s The Laptop's are a Dell Vostro 1500 & a Dell Inspiron N5050. I'll have a look at the laptop cards. But cheers for your advice, if it can't be sorted I'll try an upgrade as the next step. Are the cards a universal fit?/ Compatible with all PC's? I've never bought one before Thanks
5. All adapters are fine, we have 2 laptops and both have strong 28-30Mb/s connections It's a "Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter". Then there's another below it "IntelĀ® 82562V-2 10/100 Network Connection" It's about 15-20ft away, no walls. There is a cordless phone there, but I tried the laptops next to the desktop, and upstairs etc but it always comes out around the same speed anywhere in the house. Today I got 14.09Mb/s on speed test and 14.35Mb/s on speed of me. But the laptop has also increased to 34Mb/s Yeah it didn't actually say 'guarantee' but it was estimated to get between 40-40Mb/s so I was pretty much guaranteed that haha, and they have gave me that anyway, I'm getting 38Mb/s over cable so I know I can't complain to Sky about anything. It's obviously something on my end but I don't know what.. I'm assuming my pc if the latop's are ok. I wasn't sure if I would have to upgrade my network adapter or something else And this is what the 10 days is about; "The first 10 days of your connection we will run a Dynamic Line Management (DLM) test on the line. This is when we will try to find the most stable speed to perform on your connection. " Thanks
6. Hi Yes it is, I'm with Sky. It is worse than yesterday for some reason now. http://www.speedtest.net/result/2304454645.png This is yesterday's Then this is the 31/10/12 when it was installed. This is the highest it's ever been, I was told to wait 10 days to allow the line to settle, but all its done is go downhill. The upload has been a consistent 7Mb/s http://speedtest.net/result/2276355988.png Thanks,
7. I've sorted the Ethernet problem out now, that will receive 38mb/s when plugged in same as the laptop. So it's just the question why can I only get 7mb/s over wifi? Thanks,
8. Hi all, I can get 30mb/s download on my laptop over wifi, but I am only getting 7mb/s on my desktop. I can get 38mb/s on my laptop through ethernet cable but I can't plug my desktop in because the "Ethernet Controller" and "Ethernet Adapter" are not working properly and I don't know how to fix that either.. It says, Ethernet Controller -This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) Ethernet Adapter - This device cannot start. (Code 10) I have checked for updates and there aren't any. Any help as to why this is happening? I have Vista Business OS. Thank you
