1. Hi, it is indeed always the same drive. I'm going to try swapping the cables as plenty of people online and off have suggested that. After that if theres still problems I think I'm safe to assume its a faulty drive. Thanks for your suggestion :D
2. Hello, I'm new to the forum and hope one of you can help me identify a problem I have. Around a month and a half ago I purchased 2 Samsung SH-S222BB/RSMS CD-R/DVD-R SATA Burners. Now initially when I installed them both, I had a problem with one of the drives coming up with gobbledegook in BIOS (“Là Là Là Là Là Là Là Là Là Là Là Là” rather than "TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222BB SB00”) (please see attached image) and subsequently not allowing BIOS to continue through to Windows boot (stays on BIOS screen indefinitely). I switched the SATA port it was plugged into and it seem to be detected fine and Windows was booting correctly. Fast forward a month or so, the strange BIOS reading and not booting started to resurface. Usually a restart would clear the error and it would boot. But more recently a restart wouldn't clear this error so I proceeded to change the SATA port its connected to (I also changed the power cable to check that wasn't an issue, and it didn't change the error). This SATA port change again temporarily fixed the issue. In the last week the error reoccurred so as I didn't need that second drive for now, I've disconnected the drive in question. So I'm here to see if anyone has any ideas about what could be causing this? Is it worth trying a different SATA cable (haven't yet tried this). Do people think that the drive could be corrupted or faulty in some way, in which case should I contact the manufacturer or retailer? Thanks for your help in advance :D
