  1. ok Ken, Thanks for your help on this. have a good xmas
  2. Hello again, I found the Display adapters, when you click on this, a drop down text message says "Nvidia GeForce 210" there is no red cross near the text. The top toolbar does show two monitor logos. When you hover the cursor over them one which has a x on it says "uninstall" Hover over the 2nd logo and it displays "disable". this means little to me , but I am interested to hear any comments from you. I have to say that at hte moment I am inclined to leave things as they are, but your advice is welcome. Thanks for your patience on this.
  3. Hello Ken The router I just plugged in an it worked. I installed the graphic card by plugging the monitor into the terminal on the Graphic card which then gave me a picture on the monitor. I dont particularly want to use the onboard video that you mention, I didnt even know I had one. Since my 1st post on here I have now got the sound back by using another terminal. I have also got the monitor up and working but not in its original vertical terminal, which does not provide a picture. I have got a picture by using the terminal on the graphic board that I have just installed. Where do you type in the link thing you mentioned (devmgmt.msc)? I am on XP home edition. Can anyone give me any advice on the fault and how to rectify it please? Are there any reasons should not use the Graphic card connection? As you will have ascertained by now, I am a complete novice in this field.
  4. I removed a flashdrive/usbpen after I had shut the PC down. When I next powered up I found that a, The router/livebox would notconnect to the internet. b, there was no picture on the monitor. I have a new router and it has connected to the internet, but I still have no picture or sound on the monitor. I was told that the problem was the Graphic card so I replaced the card and installed the operating disc that came with it. the card is a nVidia gt210 I still had no picture on the monitor. In frustration I took the lead out of the monitor terminal at the back of the tower, and tried it in the terminal attached to the new graphic card. I then got a monitor picture but no sound. I tried the original terminal again and still no picture or sound. I am on XP home edition. Can anyone give me any advice on the fault and how to rectify it please? Apart from no sound, are there any reasons should not use the Graphic card connection? .
