Hi guys, I have an unknown ( and unwanted ) folder on one of my drives. It has all the markings of a system folder but its on an external drive. It is called d7fc8ee54f9e61afea4a9fbcccd95c3f and it contains 25 subfolders. Each of the names of these subfolders is a 4 digit number. I have tried to look in these to find out the contents but I just get a message telling me I dont have permission to access this folder. Anyone know what these folders are. Can they be deleted, and if so, how? I am logged in as administrator, and permissions are set to full control. The folders are marked as Read Only. If I clear the read only check box and apply the read only status comes back again immediately. Any help will be gratefully received. Thanks Tony

Ken, Thanks for the reply. I found a message telling me how to find out what the password was. I went to my Desktop PC and following the instuctions I found thet I had indeed set up a password when I first set up the shares. I went back to the laptop and typed in the required password and Hey Presto! It all works fine. Funny how quickly you forget about passwords when you are not asked for them regularly. :cool: Thanks again for your reply Tony

Hi all, I have a desktop PC with a couple of 2Tb external drives attached. Until recently I could connect to ALL of the drives on this PC wirelessly from my laptop without having to enter a password. Last week I had an issue with Windows on the laptop and had to reset Drive C to factory condition.This process went well and I have now re-installed all of the required software. However, the data files have been backed-up onto the external drives on the desktop PC. When I go into 'Computer' to open up the backups, I find (under Network) that both computers are listed but if I try to open up the Desktop, a log-in dialog box pops up asking for a password. Nothing has changed on the desktop PC and my girlfriend can still access the files from her laptop. What do I need to do to my setup to get me back to where I was originally. Both computers are running Win 7 Home Premium. 64 bit on the Laptop, 32 bit on the Desktop, and neither of the user accounts are (or ever have been) password protected. Hope I have provided enough info. Thanks in advance Tony
