Hello I'm in!!! 6th May BT engineering works at our exchange. Since then internet terrible. Keeps coming and going all the time. Think I have it sussed - but then fades, cannot turn on/off - so spasmodic Telephoned AOL 6 times now. On Sat. they told me to do this and do that - cleaning my caches and other bits. Lost all my favourites, passwords. Spent Sat. evening and most of sunday trying to get everything back Asked the chap who made machine - sent him pictures of my screen at each stage of trying to get onto the internet and logging off - but really he said contact AOL. After more and more irate emails from me Now received email from AOL where I have to re-boot, restore but I do not know if I going to loose everything Since the works at the exchange - Internet fades - so that I have a blue circle going round and round When I try and log in. The sign in box and the little man freeze and I have a black circle with a line through it When I am on the internet - everything freezes and I cannot turn off. It says I have two programmes running and not allowing AOL to turn off So I click wait - then after awhile I can close down properly Even trying to get on here - has been quite a job My modem is N150. Had this about 4 to 5 years. BT landline Is restore and re-booting the only way? Oh I was so enjoying have a decent machine Louise

Ken Thank you for letting me know I will have a look and have a go at wordpress tomorrow See how I go tomorrow. No doubt I will be back - but this is only an exercise for me to try - it is not important. Something I would like to learn how to do Thank you Louise

Hello I have been looking at the boards for this topic I would like to use a website - or rather learn how to build a website. I have seen places like Create, Shopify etc. This sort of site I have tried all the free trials but baffled from step one!!!! In my mind I cannot see how I move my pics onto the pages and which page So........ Where is the best place to turn? Tried Youtube - but have not found a really good idiots guide ........... any ideas please Also would like to learn how to start up on facebook and twitter - but safely (as you hear so many horror stories) Thank you Louise

All done!!!! Phew! Nerve racking! All cleared and back in box All on memory stick All that is left is for me to thank you all for your help and also for your continued patience! I may be back with a few questions - but these will be "how do I do this or that". Nothing as bad as recent times Thank you all again Louise

Me again .... sorry .... nearly finished I have put all that I think I may need on the memory stick. For good measure also took off lots of bits and pieces from my old faithful XP machine Windows 8. I have had a look and clicked for england ....... but how do I go back to factory settings please. I remember finding it once but they were "dark times"!!!!! Thank you Louise

Right. Have been through windows 8 machine. I have previously taken off what I use/want to keep. All this is on my windows 7 machne - so I know I have it So nohting much on there BUT having learnt from past mistakes will buy a memory stick before I clean anything Would a 16GB be enough do you think? Not sure Louise

I think it would be best if I bought a memory stick and take off all my bits on the windows 8 I will then feel happier if I go back to basics My email account, and other popular consumer sites I use - I always sign into - so these should not affect my windows 7 if I clear the windows 8 Have I got this right? Hello I STILL have a windows 8 computer. Not been collected yet As I do not use this computer at all I would like to take off emails and other bits and pieces before it goes I turned it on last night after many weeks of not using this I see it has all my up to date emails, recent photos etc on that I have working with on my windows 7 machine The question is .......... if I clear the windows 8 machine will this also affect my windows 7 machine and clear all my emails etc on this one?
