Yes I changed the boot settings but it just goes to a black screen then after 30secs boots the hdd, tried with a recovery CD I burned earlier and a windows 7 pro disk I have on my desktop

Done exactly that today with no joy , the laptop will not boot a windows disk either which I find strange. After I removed the ram when attempting to get the recovery partition it wouldn't go past windows loading files , not sure if booting from usb is worth a go ?

I'll do that today and let you know how I get on I've already got the keyboard out so half the battle already

Hi everyone Having trouble with my Dell n5030 laptop was using it a few weeks back and it would not go past the windows loading screen , tried to use the recovery partition to reboot back to factory settings but I get past windows loading files and it sticks on a blue background with a cursor , ive also tried to boot from a recovery disk and a windows disk but when I boot from cd it will not boot ! I've also tied a different hard drive with the same results, sorry for the long post hope some one can help !!
