It could be that 2 drivers conflict with each other, in that case you may never solve the problem, I use a direct cable to my laptop for a similar reason. One idea is to limit the internet speed so it doesn't reach the limit which triggers the wifi adapter to shut down.. or the cable :).

Backup You need the backup files from the hosting company, but they usually don't keep backup files for so long. you can try though.
