1. Great shout Nev, the red data cable from the HD to the motherboard appeared loose however, I disconnected and reconnected everything just in case and it seems ok again. Brilliant!!
2. Cheers, will have a go and let you know. All components mentioned are almost new and of good quality. Only the power supply, motherboard and graphics card and CDR/DVD drive are original.
3. Ok, have tried putting XP disc back in to repair/reinstall but it gets as far downloading the necessary files and then freezes j u st before the Welcome to Set up Screen. Just get a black screen thereafter?? Is there something catastrophically wrong within the hardware of this pc for it to fail like this so soon after all the work that has taken place??
4. Tried that but didn't want to know. Thought I may have to go through a complete reinstall again??
5. No idea what SIMSIG is?? Do not have Norton, the PC has at present a free version of Emsisoft. No idea on how to remove anything when the PC will not start up??
6. Hi, thanks for reply. Message on screen as it attempts to open in 'safe mode' is: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
7. Sorry Guys - I'm back again!! Have been busy with other stuff and have not turned my wifes PC on since and she has not even been on it as yet as I haven't had chance to put Ofice onto it (mislaid disc!!) so I have kept her away from it however, I turned it on yesterday and got the dreaded blue screen followed by numerous messages. I have taken pics of these messages for you to analyse but at the end of the day - it will not now fire up and I do not know why?? See pics: I have restarted it several times now just to see if it can find itself but to no avail Sorry!!
8. Cheers, thought i'd ask!! Now where's that roll of insulation tape!!
9. Can I just ask a question? When the PC powers down and all goes quiet, the power light for the CnM Card Reader stays illuminated and so does the External HD. The card reader connects via the motherboard and the External HD connects by USB. To turn those off I have to flick the switch off at the wall. Is there something I can do to get these to turn off when the PC 'shuts down'??
10. Now I'm confused?? Told you I know nothing about pc's! To be honest, I have never heard of either WinFast or SiS but the board has both on it? If you feel all is ok and I cannot argue to be fair then many many thanks to you all for all your help, totally appreciated. Does your 'Fund' accept PayPal??
11. However, I get the message: 'WinFast, This Utility CD cannot support your Motherboard'. ??
12. Don't worry, may be stupid with computers but not daft!! :) The Card reader is now working ok after doing what you said so thank you for that. I now need ( I assume?) some drivers still for the Motherboard etc?? I have been busy and not been on here for a few days and already forgot where we were!! I've still got this WinFast disc which looks like the genuine disc that come with the Motherboard?? Contents are listed in a previous post (post 53).
13. How good is this? tried using it and it thinks my PC is a HP/Compaq Notebook??? I tried manually selecting the motherboard etc and it then asked me to register which I did and now it wants me to phone a Toll Free number to get my Password Key!!
14. Just as an update: List now includes Audio however, I cannot see any mention of the CnM Lifestyle Internal Card Reader. The device is fitted, connected and has the power light on (in fact, the light does not go off??) but I cannot see the device anywhere on the PC?? 15. Emsisoft didn't like that site and through it out but have found the driver on another site and that now works - thanks.
