Hi Starbuck. Thanks for your reply, unfortunatly I had already uninstalled Opera before i read your message. Not a problem though. I still had the Opera install program in my downloads file. So I installed Opera again, I found the settings and made Duckduckgo my default search engine. But on Opera's front page the letter "G" is still on the left side of the search bar, but if I type my search into the address bar at the top the little duck logo comes up and it searches with DDG. I just wish I could get rid ot the "G" Ruddy big brother google gets everywhere. Many Thanks for your help. Bringe.

Hi KenB & Starbuck.:) Thank you both for your replies. I thought rather than altering settings on google, I would give Opera a try. Downloaded it, got to the search page and it still had the google "G" at the left side of the search bar. I tried searching for this website (computer support forums) and all I got was that stupid square from google with "Before you Continue" on it. So I still had to sign into google to be able to use Opera:smash: So Ille uninstall Opera and try the next one. I will post later with the results.

Hi KenB. Many thanks for your reply. I do use DuckDuckGo but still have to use the incognito window because DDG is only a search engine, not a browser. so I was told by their support a while ago. So its still google chrome in the background. Is there a way to stop the history being recorded by tweaking something in the registry or somewhere?? Many Thanks in advance. Bringe:smash:

Hi All. Ive not been on here for a while, since then I have changed from XP to windows 10. I think I preffer XP but its getting less and less support now. Anyway. Here's the problem I have (one of several, but one at a time) Apart from using the incognito window, how can I turn off the history all together?? I have watched some clips on youtube about it and I have tried to follow the instructions but had no luck, they either talk to fast or its in hindi. Please, if anyone can give me a step by step easy to understand list of instructions, that would be extremely appreciated !!

Just an Update. I put this micro SD card in my phone and it worked straight away, even without formatting it. There was an option to format it, so I did. and It still works fine. Then I tried it back in the PC and it works fine. I will now leave it in my phone so I can take video whenever I want, and transfer to my PC. Kind Regards. Bringe.

Hi AWS. I thought that was probably the case. I got it from ebay, I will try for a refund but I wont hold my breath. I dont know how these people sleep at night.

Hi Everyone:) I recently bought a Kingston 32gb micro sd card. I just tried to format it and I noticed it said it was only 112mb but I thought that would correct itself when it was formatted. I tried it through the usual way first (my computer, right click the drive, click format, this is where it said 112mb,ticked fast format, then format) then got "Windows was unable to complete the format" I tried it in various "file systems" but still the same. So I tried it via disc management, and with the same result?? I removed it from the pc to check that the lock was off, and tried again, and now it hangs the computer. And have to remove it to unhang the pc. I hope that one of you kind people can shed some light on this problem for me. many Thanks. Bringe.

Hi Rustys & Starbuck. Thanks for your replies. I tried tapping the F11 key on startup but didn't do anything. Its not really important that I get it back to factory settings, Its only an old pc anyway, but I like a challenge, and when I cant solve something it really cheeses me off!! I did do a defrag on it, it took 2 days. After that I checked the defrag again and it still said "you should defrag this volume" I did it 4 times!!! I guess it could well be time to put it on antiques roadshow or the council dump. Many Thanks. Bringe.

Hi Everyone. I have an old HP desktop pc running windows XP. It has got so cluttered over the years and takes ages to boot up. I am wanting to reset it back to factory settings. I know everyone says hit the F11 key te reset it, but, there is no F11 option on the screen as it passes by. I went to "compmgmt.msc" and then into "disk management" and it shows the whole drive is disk C: there is no partition with any recovery programs/software. I have a friend who also has an HP desktop pc running XP. On his pc, going to "compmgmt.msc" and "disk management" shows the disk drive C: but has a partition labelled "HP_RECOVERY" So the question is, Is it possible to somehow copy his partition labelled "HP_RECOVERY" and Install it into my pc so letting me factory reset my old pc??? Any help or ideas about this problem will be gratefully received. Bringe.

Hi KenB. Thanks for your reply. I do have another PC, its the one that had XP on it and I managed to upgrade it to windows 7 ultimate. I have tried these 2 USB sticks in it and the drive shows up in "computer" for a split second and then disappears, but the cursor still works. By wiggling and fiddling with the USB stick I managed to get the drive to show up in "computer" but if I click on it, it doesn't open up and if I right click on it I get a menu, but clicking on "format" nothing happens. I found these instructions relating to the "C" prompt for XP... diskpart list disk select disk clean create partition primary format fs= fat32 quick I tried these instructions on windows 7 but it didn't work. I have included some pics to give you an idea of whats happening. Although the drive is showing in "computer" I dont know if the PC is seeing it?? Kind Regards. Bringe.

Hi Everyone. I have a couple of usb sticks that for some reason when I plug them in it sometimes shows up in "my computer" for a split second and then disappears. Then I get the egg timer as the cursor and I cant do anything until I remove the usb stick. Then the pc goes back to normal. I have other usb sticks that work perfectly but these two give this problem. I think they may be corrupt as I think I may have removed them while they were still open. Apart from throwing them in the bin, has anyone any ideas to try to get them to work?? Many Thanks. Bringe.

Hi KenB:courage:. While I have been searching for a way to update my old xp to windows 7. I have found a couple of interesting things. First is a way to start getting updates again from microsoft to xp. Basically its a way to fool the registry that xp is embedded and this carries on till 2019. I have done this and it works. Go here....... Second is a website that offers all the various windows 7 downloads for free. Go here...... https://www.pcsteps.com/45-download-windows-7-iso-legally-free-digital-river/ Its as a torrent file. I downloaded windows 7 ultimate (32 bit) So I was wondering if you could advise me as to the best (free) torrent client??? Kind Regards. Bringe.
