  1. My Toshiba NB550D netbook runs Windows 7 Starter always seems to be busy doing things I haven't asked it to do! For most of the time the HDD light is on solid, consequently the netbook is very slow to respond particularly just after startup. I have tried to keep it clean buy running my McAfee scan regularly and other programs recommended by the PC magazines. Task manager 'processes' rarely show programs running at more than a a few percent CPU capacity but 'CPU performance' is peaking at 99%. While this is happening, the only program running is Internet Explorer. Can anyone tell me what they think is happening and how I can resolve this nuisence?
  2. Success Office installed straight from the disc using the product key. I expected to have to uninstal and advise MS that the software was no longer in use and then they would allow me to use it again on another machine. Thanks for your help.
  3. My Dell laptop mother board failed so I decided to scrap it. The HDD is OK. How can I transfer Office to another PC when it has been registered on the failed machine?
  4. This issue is now resolved. Thanks for your help. Trevor
  5. Thanks KenB I assume that having put the Xp dvd/cd in the drive I just follow the presented instructions. Trev
  6. Hello KenB I got the HP laptop through an ad in the paper. It's Hard drive is only 40Gb so if possible I would like to stick to Xp. I am hoping this won't cost me because I have the original product key for Xp Professional on this laptop - but I don't have the DVD. Is it possible to download this? Also when installed, will I be able to get updates up to the time when support was ended?
  7. Not really sure which forum this goes under! I have just bought a 2nd user HP Notebook. It has an Xp Professional product key on the base but when it is run, Windows 7 Ultimate is loaded with a warning that 'this copy of Windows is not genuine. I want to revert to Xp, how can I do this?
