  1. Was a clean install from a Microsoft disc yeah. Yeah luckily I had a wireless dongle lying round, so I managed to get online with that and an now in the process of beginning to update everything. Think I'm slowly getting there! Think this can be classed as [sOLVED] I guess, not the way I'd have liked it to have been sorted, but clean restart did the trick. Thanks for the help guys, will certainly be using you again in the future!
  2. I've clean installed Win7 on my 2TB, everything seems to be working fine (EXCEPT NOW IT WONT FIND MY LAN AND SO I CAN'T GET ONLINE :censored:), but at least the keyboard and mouse are working again. If I can get the internet to connect (again, works on Ubuntu haha) then I can be back in business and start to upgrade again. Is there anything I can run to find out what may have caused the initial problems so as to hopefully avoid them again? Or shall I put it down to just one of those things...? Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.
  3. OK have tested a few configurations. I have tried with just the 500GB, it won't let me use the keyboard and mouse (but did load up the Windows 10 'reset pc' option, which it let me navigate, but then when it came to logging in, still nothing). I tried with the 1TB, and it still allows me to boot into Ubuntu, which DOES allow me to use it as normal, but wont allow me to do anything with Windows. I tried the 2TB and the 500GB and that didn't recognise the 2TB at all (so presumably I'll have to reformat it so that it does), but again, couldn't use M&KB. The SSD remains connected throughout as this contains Windows 10. The only other thing I can think of doing is completely removing all drives, stick Windows 10 (well 7, but then upgrade) on the 2TB, removing the SSD and all other drives out of the equation, and restart from scratch... I'm not too worried about keeping Ubuntu at all, but obviously in this case, it's the only thing that's working properly! Thanks for these replies guys!
  4. Thanks for the reply. The OS (Windows 10) was on the SSD, which was left untouched. I only transferred my files (photos, music etc) to the other HDD, via a simple copy/paste. The HDD (1TB) that I transferred the stuff from had a Ubuntu partition. Could this be affecting anything? I will reply once I have finished work if any one has sent a response. Thanks for any help!
  5. Hi, thanks for the reply. I have tried all ports available (6 USB 2 on the rear, 2 USB 3 on rear, 1 USB 2 on front, 1 USB 3 on front), still no luck.
  6. Hi guys, I'm new here, so hi! Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I thought it looked the most suitable. OK, bear with me as this might be a bit of a long post. So, I had a 500GB HDD that sounded like it was about to die [VERY loud]. I had an old 1TB (from my old computer) that I put in, transferred the stuff on that (only about 60GB or so) to the 500, and was then going to transfer all of that to a brand new 2TB that I also had, and then have the 2TB and the 1TB instead of just a 500GB. I managed to get the 1TB in the machine, and managed to transfer all the stuff that I wanted over to the 500 (that now has ~50GB space left). However, when I removed the 1TB (I formatted it before hand using Windows formatter) in order to insert the 2TB and start the transfer, I found that I could no longer use my mouse or keyboard. I did a bit of reading, and saw that I could try adjusting the BIOS, which I managed to access. I was told to check that USB and the LEGACY USB etc were all enabled, which they were. It would allow me to access the BIOS screen, but would not allow me to use my mouse or keyboard when it came to actually logging in to the pc. I have tried plugging them in every single port with no luck, as well as trying with them plugged in both before and after booting. I have also tried reinstalling the Windows 7 disc (and then obviously would have to upgrade back to Windows 10), but that wouldn't work either because it told me I needed to restart the computer without the disc and then reinsert it once I had reached the desktop, which I couldn't do because I couldn't use the keyboard to log in... I swapped the order of the boot around so that I could access Ubuntu to try and see if I could access it that way, which allowed me to use my mouse and keyboard at least, but I want my Windows machine back. Does anyone know of any tips that could get me to at least log in to my Windows 10 again? All I wanted to was install some more HDD space :( I am not very good when it comes to the inner workings of a PC, but I know my way around the GUI at least.. [it might be worth nothing that I am using an SSD with Windows 10. But the 1TB has Ubuntu on it, which is how I am accessing this page now.] Hope this is enough information! Thanks for any replies, and sorry for the wall of text...
