Hi We have a mobile Wi-Fi Dongle which connected to her laptop, but only by plugging it in, I.e. as an Ethernet. All other devices in the house connect with no problems. Well, I say that, the fire stick and V6 box have their moments but I think that's part of their job description. It is a Lenovo Ideapad 320 142 and then the numbers are blurred. We have just run malwarebytes adwcleaner through and on the restart, it said it was scanning and repairing hard drive. Never said that before. When it turned on, it was on the Wi-Fi. Seriously, my brain hurts sometimes. But, I told her I would definitely help her buy a new machine if this kept playing up. She bought this herself and has always taken a lot of care, but electronics can't run forever. I won't mention the laptop my work had to provide me with. That's a whole other Horror Story.

Hi Laptop completely lost internet connection. Had a very stressed daughter this morning as there was no sign of the wireless adapter at all. After several attempts to update drivers so the computer could find them again, still no luck. She had to use a mobile Wi-Fi dongle we had bought for emergencies. This morning, it managed to reconnect. For now. We really have no idea what to do. She scanned for hardware many times and the adapter just didn't show up. Until this morning. Please help

Hopefully we have the model number correct. My daughter bought this laptop three years ago for University work and it worked fine up until November (she says). It has been used exclusively for her University work and browsing. It is more important this year, because she will have to do her exams online. Since an update went on around November, she says it sometimes freezes and the browser has to be reloaded,. This is mainly when she uses Blackboard Collaborate or Teams. Once it freezes, it won't just reconnect and carry on. It happens on Chrome and Microsoft Edge. It can happen when just browsing. Also, the avatar on her lock screen is pixelated and her tiles on start screen are grey, although she has clicked for multi coloured. I am quoting what my daughter says, as I don't use the laptop, so hope it makes sense. Can anyone offer advice on what to do, please? You wonderful people have helped so much in the past. Thank in advance.

Laptop not connecting to Wifi

Forgot to mention, I suggested Ethernet cable, but he is currently using the only one he has to connect his laptop to his (supposedly) wireless printer. His printer can be temperamental, but I have never met a printer that wasn't, to be honest. -
Laptop not connecting to Wifi

Hi Went to Dads yesterday. He said that sometimes the laptop freezes too and he has to restart it. Anyway, I followed your instructions. Nothing next to the wireless adapter at all. In fact, the laptop behaved for me. I cleared his cache and turned off notifications that were bothering him. Turned out to be mainly YouTube. He must have clicked allow notifications at some point. There were a couple of updates waiting to go on, including the 2021-01 version 2004, or something like that, so Updates were put on with no issue. Network was set to Private and his router was on channel 6, but everything seemed to be working. In other words, I couldn't find anything. I even ran the troubleshooter again just to check. I await the next call from him with bated breath. Everytime the land-line rings now, I get twitchy. -

Thanks for your reply. I will check all this as soon as I can get over to him. -
I hope someone can help. The laptop in question belongs to my dear old Dad, who causes me sleepless nights with his technical issues. He has a five year old laptop, which is Windows 10. Last week, while I was trying to work from home, he rang and said his laptop wouldn't connect to the wifi. The router is merely a few feet away. I had to video call him, so I could see what he was doing on his PC. We managed to get on to the diagnostic tool, which picked up that a driver was missing, it then did the troubleshooter, restarted and the laptop connected to his wifi. All good, so I thought and I was very proud of my 80 year old for managing this. However, he has rung me today to say it has happened a couple more times since, and somehow he has managed to follow the steps (he thinks) to get it to connect again. He asked me why this keeps happening and my simple answer is I don't know. I assume his network adaptor may be faulty or not updated? It is difficult without seeing it to fully explain, but in a couple of days, I will go over, armed with my anti - bac wipes and lock him in a room while I have a look. Can anyone advise on this? I have seen wifi booster dongles that have been recommended by some sites, that may help if his adaptor may be the issue, but don't want to buy anything unnecessarily. Especially since I am the one who will have to install it. He is also grumbling about a flurry of notifications that show up in the bottom right hand corner when he loads his laptop. He cannot remember what any say, but says some have been in a foreign language. I despair. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have Windows 8.1 and have Malwarebytes premium installed. It has been asking me to update to its latest version but whenever I click to allow it, nothing happens. It simply does nothing and there box goes off the screen. I have tried to download off Malwarebytes site but when I click to open the executable file, nothing happens. Any suggestions?? I pay for this, so I want the latest version Thanks in advance.

My Dad uses this printer with a Windows 10 laptop. When he scans, the image which comes up is readable, but covered in thin green, blue and purple stripes. He says the menu options which come up are not "preview" as normal, but something else (he couldn't remember) . Can anyone advise on a fix for this, please?

Hi, My daughter's phone is constantly giving a message saying there is insufficient internal storage. She has moved what she can to the SD card and is trying to back up all her phone files to the PC, although it keeps saying there was an error during back up. This has started since an update to the operating system. Has anyone got any advice on how to go about freeing up space or going back to the previous OS without causing too much damage?? Thanks in advance

[Solved] Error message: System error

I uninstalled WPS Office. Looks like it was a pre-installed app. Dad hasn't complained since I took it off, so I hope that has cured the problem. -

Thanks for advice, I will have a look at this as soon as I can. Is WPS Office a threat?
