Afternoon all,
I am trying to do a favour for a relative in accessing some hard-drives of defunct laptops for them. They hope I can recover some old Word documents.
There are three hard drives (photos attached) and I believe all are from laptops. Two appear to have the same type of connection, whereas one is slightly different.
I am inexperienced with computer hardware issues, and all I am looking to find out is which (if any) of the cheap "SATA to USB adapter" devices available on Amazon will fit all three of these drives so I can access them via my own laptop and look for documents.
I mean devices such as the following:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-External-Transfer-Connector-Internal/dp/B07Y825SB8/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2Z3KN85JCYUFP&dchild=1&keywords=hard+drive+usb+cable&qid=1596646472&sprefix=hard+drive+u%2Caps%2C338&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyMkxOOEdFRDAwN1lGJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjIxMTA2MVYxOFpTMUZPTklSTiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMzM5NjY5MkQ4NUlZTjcwR1ZVQSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
All 3 drives are just under 3 inches in width and just over 4 inches in length. I was about to purchase an item like the above, but as I tried to research it became unclear to me whether any one type would fit all 3 of these drive types.
There are of course many serial numbers on the drive surfaces; please let me know if quoting any of these will clarify the issue.
Thanks,
JHM
