I installed HD ADeck (sound software) with the disk that came with my ASUS P5QL mobo. I'm just wondering if anyone else has and uses HD ADeck and is it necessary?

A wired connection is always the better option but it depends on your circumstances i.e. where your xbox is in relation to the router / modem.

Although i'm not having any problems, I was curious to know whether my mobo should beep on start up. Its an ASUS P5QL. My last mobo was an ASUS and that used to beep on start up. My speakers are on but I don't think that matters as I don't think the beep comes through them.

On-board sound is what is installed with the motherboard (there will be no card). Is the speaker & microphone plugged into the sound card that you mention?

Have you tried going into Sound & Audio Devices in the Control Panel and seeing what is enabled under Audio & Voice tabs

Sorry for the delay Goku. I had more problems with my PC freezing. Bought a new mobo today and everything seems tickety boo (touch wood). Hard Drive is also sorted thanks.

I've formatted the new partition ('E' drive). What is the next step as it is sort of 'greyed out'. I have several options if I right click on it.

I bought some new RAM today (Corsair DDR2 XMS 800MHz PC6400 2 x 1GB). Fitted 1 then the other about 30mins later and had no problems for about 6 hours then the PC froze :confused:. I've emailed Gigabyte (MOBO manufacturer) because the board is supposed to beep on start up .....but it doesn't. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. I also looked in event viewer and this warning ocurred 3 times at the time of freeze..... Printer Driver Microsoft Office Document Image Writer Driver for Windows NT x86 Version-3 was added or updated. Files:- mdigraph.dll, mdiui.dll, mdiui.dll. .....any ideas?

I created a partition ('C' drive) for Windows during windows set up. How do I assign a letter to the remaining partition now that Windows is fully set up.

Can I put the RAM in any PC to run MemTest or does it have to be compatible with the mobo?

Ok, sorted. The 8 pin can be separated into two 4 pins. Going to leave PC alone for a bit to see if it freezes.
