  1. Sorry i have not been around for a while. Contacted Trend and they said it was a Firewall problem and gave me some changes to do, all of which came to nothing as it did not correct the problem. Just to test it i turned off my Trend firewall and turned on Windows Firewall but again nothing changed. Its not a huge problem as some e-mails do go out but others just go to the outbox and wait for me to press Send and Receive. Its just annoying.
  2. Tried the system restore and although the e-mail went into the outbox it did go after a short time, but not instantly as normal. Tried again several times and they just remained in the outbox again without sending but i could still send by using the send and receive, I have noticed that when i click the send and receive i get a 'connected ' window but it takes a little while for the mail to be sent and the window to change to the sending mail one. It then all goes very quickly.
  3. I am using Trend 2009 internet security and this has recently updated from the 2008 version which may coincide with the problem. There are no other e-mail accounts on my PC and i have not tried creating a new account, not that i know how. With regard the article from Goku i have already seen this but as i am able to send the e-mails from the outbox by using send and recieve i did not think this applied to my problem as the e-mails are not 'locked' in. I did think about a sytem restore but have not tried it yet.
  4. That was already checked but i changed it and changed it back again but there is no difference. Outward mail just goes into the outbox and sits there until i click send and recieve.
  5. Everything is correct except for the deleting and creating a new outbox folder. Before i do this, it does not mention Vista or windows mail in the systems. Only outlook express. Will i be OK trying this when i am using Vista and windows mail and not outlook express? Thanks for your trouble.
  6. I am using Vista home premium and Windows Mail. Recently instead of sending mail straight away, outgoing e-mails go into my outbox, when i press send, and i then get the sound of receiving mail. I am then able to send it by using 'send and receive' but it is annoying that it does not get sent straight away. I have checked the box in tools - options to send messages immediately and i have not changed anything recently and it was all working fine. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  7. Just to round off this thread, Trend is all on and working OK. Apart from a couple of huge update downloads all was fairly straightforward although as i us a dial up connection the size of the downloads was a problem. Switched Defender back on and again no problems. Will be changing to Broadband shortly so i may be back. Thanks for all your help.:):):):):)
  8. I thought it seemed a lot of changes when i could just click to disable the firewall and defender. I will take out AVG first though. I will not really have time to do it until the weekend but i will post the outcome just in case anyone else has a similar issue. Many thanks for your help especially in noticing the 'Bit Defender' difference as i was very uneasy about making the changes Trend recommended. Thanks again.:):):):):)
  9. Many thanks for picking that up. I am using Vista Home Premium and Windows Defender was included with it. The reply from Trend used the term "Bit Defender" which i have not heard before and i have not installed it myself. As far as i know ,and looking in the control panel, i only have Windows Firewall and Windows Defender both of which i am able to shut down in 'Control Panel' which presumable would be all i need to do.
  10. Thanks for that but i do find all the changes a little daunting but we will see how we go.
  11. I copied and pasted it straight out of their e-mail.
  12. Thanks again for coming back so quick. I originaly asked Trend the same question, some time ago, and i have just recieved this reply which has confused me ,which is not hard, .......AVG free and Windows's Bit Defender are both incompatible with PC Cillin 2008's firewall . PC Cillin alone can fully cover your PC so will not need any extra Anti-virus. open defender > tools > options > disbale realtime run msconfig > startups > remove/ uncheck windows dender. THEN go to Services tab and disable Defenders service. Remove Windows Defender from Vista System Startup 1. Click Windows Start button, Type MSCONFIG in the Start Search box and Press the Enter 2. Click Startup tab, Scroll down and UnCheck Windows Defender Startup Item. Click OK to Save config change 3. No need to reboot, Click Exist without restart........ Do i really need to do all this to make it work?
  13. Many thanks for you reply. Does this mean that Defender will normaly run along side Trend and i only need to shut it down while i am loading Trend? Also do i not need to disable the Windows firewall and let the Trend one do all the work? Sorry if this is obvious but i am not exactly up on this sort of thing. I have the Trend on disc as i use a dial up and am unable to stay on the net long enough for the Trend download.
  14. I am using Vista Home Premium with AVG free anti virus and NoAdware. I am going to delete the AVG and install Trend 2008 Internet Security but i am aware that i will need to shut down some or all of Windows Defender but i could do with some guidance as to what i need to disable and how. Is this something you could help with? many thanks.
