  1. I wonder if I would be better off with VGA to HDMI or VGA to Yellow, Red and White RCAs?
  2. Hi all, I've bought a lead to connect my netbook to my tv to use it as a monitor. It has the 15 pin VGA connector on one end and 3 RCA connectors on the other - Red, Green and Blue. I plugged it into the appropriate terminals on the tv but can't view whatevers on the netbook screen. I've tried changing display settings within the computer and tried various combinations with the RCAs. This is the lead I bought: [urlhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280634772964&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT][/url] Are these coloured ends for audio only? Do I need a yellow RCA for video? Many thanks, Jon-Paul.
  3. Hi all. I've come across a new problem. I bought a new joystick for my dad (Logitech Freedom 2.4 Wireless) for his flight simulator games. It installed fine and works really well with Combat Flight Sim 1 in XP, but not in Vista. It installed and calibrated fine on both OS. Downloaded latest gaming software from Logitech site, but still can't get it to work with CFS. I've gone through the Logitech Profiler settings. Any ideas folks? Many thanks, Jon-Paul.
  4. I've rang canon and they say error code 6000 is a "fatal error" and means the printer is mullered. They suggest disconnecting the printer from the mains for 20 mins to clear the internal memory. Will try this and update as to how it goes. If it doesn't work then I guess a new printer is in order.
  5. Hi, I've got the above printer and model. It's started flashing it's lights and says paper is jammed. I've looked inside, took the back plate out to check and can't see any paper stuck. Tried switching it off and on again. Still the same. Uninstalled it and reinstalled and still the same error code comes up. I've tried Canons website but can't find any info on error code 6000 The site won't let me download a user manual either. Any help is much appreciated. Many thanks, Jon-Paul.
  6. Hi all, been a while since I've been on, good to be back. When on a website, I often want to contact the company by email, when I click on the email link it opens MS Outlook Express, which is no good to me. How do I set things up to go to my Yahoo email account automatically. It's fine if I have to sign in to Yahoo afterwards, just a pain in the bot having to copy, sign in to email account, then paste all the time. Many thanks, Jon-Paul.
  7. Hi all, I'm just wondering how to send and receive faxes from my computer? I've checked out Efax but would rather just pay for the ones I send or receive rather than a monthly charge as I'm only going to be sending them very infrequently. I've gone through the steps in Windows Fax Console but it looks like I have to use a fax modem. Is this the old dial-up modem? I'm currently using a usb BT voyager modem as have found it more reliable than my router. It has usb socket and phone line socket and that's it. PC has phone input. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Many thanks, JP Clarey.
  8. Hi, I've installed SIW, just trying to upload screenshots of the info of what I've got. I've forgotten what to do through Paint! It's been ages since I last used it.
  9. Hi all, the advice and info is much appreciated. I apologise for the delay in getting back to you all on this matter. I'm know more about software than hardware unfortunately. I'm not sure if my Pentium 4 is a 478 or 775 socket to be honest. At the time of upgrading the CPU I guess I must've been lucky when I thought I'd upgrade to a faster P4. I simply looked on Ebay for a faster one than I already had and got a shop to fit it. In terms of Motherboard and Chipset specs, the only info I know is posted above. The PC was supplied through the Littlewoods catalogue years ago and carries RAMCOM branding, (does this help anyone?) Internals are the original VIA Motherboard and P4 1.8. I've simply upgraded hardware from time to time and it continues to work well, most of the time. How can I determine which socket type my cpu is? Please get back to me if you need more info, serial numbers etc. Many thanks in advance, Jon-Paul Clarey.
  10. Hi all, it's good to be back! Happy new year to all. Hope someone can help. I have the following currently installed: VIA Technologies P4M266A (2 slots) Motherboard, Pentium 4 2.8Ghz cpu, (not sure if it's HT or not) 1.25Gb RAM I'm waiting for another 1 Gig RAM stick to go with the one I've already installed. I've run the Crucial memory scan and it says I can only install 2 sticks of 1Gig memory on my VIA motherboard and this is the maximum. I'd like more but if that's all I can put in then that's all I can put it. Is there any way of fooling the pc into using more memory per slot? The Crucial scanner picks up the correct cpu type and running speed but doesn't suggest any brands/models to upgrade the cpu. Is there a scanner that can determine which socket type my pentium 4 is and what I can upgrade to? Does anyone know an easy way within windows of doing this? I'm aware you can overclock the cpu and I'm pretty sure the decent heatsink and fan can cope with that, but does it make the OS unstable? Many thanks, Jon-Paul Clarey.
  11. Hi, thanks for your help. I haven't tried that fix yet. Just wondering if I could go back to service pack 2 if it doesn't work as I've had a few problems since installing SP3. Thanks again.
  12. Hi again, I did the scan for corruption. It took a while then just ended and disappeared from the screen, so I'm not sure if it's found anything or fixed anything. I got no message after it had finished. I tried uninstalling the Voyager modem software again but got the same error message.
  13. Hi Jelly Bean, thanks for your reply. I've tried clearing old the drivers etc. It took about 30 mins so there must've been quite a bit of junk in there. Still no joy though I'm afraid. I still get the same message coming up. I clicked on your link and started afresh, extracted all the files and ran the SETUP file, but I still get the error messages? Could this be a glitch in the software on in my pc? Please feel free to add ideas/thoughts, it's much appreciated. Thanks, Jon-Paul.
  14. Hi, I hope someone can help. I'm trying to install a Voyager 105 USB broadband modem. I've used one before with no problems but have come across another one that I can't install. It's getting power to it via the USB lead and all seems well. I have existing drivers for it but as soon as I run the setup of them it comes up with an error message: "Error loading newdev.dll" followed by another message: "Administrator privileges are required to install, uninstall, or configure the DSL software" I'm set up as an administrator in User Settings already. What can I do now to get up and running? Can anyone help as how to get rid of these messages or override the settings?
