Hi all, my recovery discs dont seem to work on my laptop, is it possible to reset to factory settings without having to use the discs?

tried changing password, no joy! Im almost positive we didnt get any cds with the puter, when we bought it everything was installed. Tried sfc /scannow and all that happens is a black screen flashes up for a millisecond then go's off :(

we got windows xp, and yes i can acess account in safe mode.

can only start up in safe mode tried adding administrator and restarting and it didnt work, tried system restore and all i got was pop up saying system restore cannot protect my puter and to try rebooting and try again aaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh think im going round bend lol

can only start up in safe mode Well! Hubby did install new game, (microsoft flight simulator) thought of that so went into add remove programmes and got rid, as for cleaning inside of case yes we do, il try the adding administrator thing now though xx

Can someone help!! My puter will only let me start up in safe mode, when i try to log on normally as soon as i put in my password it switches itself off and restarts itself and if i just leave it at the password screen it does the same, just keeps restarting constantly xx

done all that opened blue website, still wont let me sign in to msn, ebay etc, its opening the home pages of the sites but as soon as i want to sign in it comes up page cannot be displayed!

She is currently on IE version 6.0 and our router is wgv614a3 (thats the only thing i can find on the router to identify it).

default gateway is 192.168.15.1 ive repaired it and now it says windows did not detect problems with this connection, ive opened RED / Index and its displaying the web page, but i still cant sign into any websites:confused:

I have rplaced my daughters wireless dongle on her laptop with a pc card, i can connect to the internet on it but if i want to sign in to any site it keeps coming up "page cannot be displayed" for example i can get on to ebay but if i want to sign in to my ebay it wont let me, i can get on to our homepage but if i want to sign in to get emails it wont let me!. I cant even get into msn messenger (which it did before i changed to the pc card).Can somebody help please my 13 yr old daughter is giving me a hard time!!!
