The audio is still working today, looks like it's here to stay :) you might be right about the jumpers, i'll keep it in mind should a similar problem arise, Once again many thanks for your support p.s. you can be sure i will be mentioning this GREAT forum to anyone experiencing pc problems, THANK YOU -

yes, i've tried looking at several articles about connecting the front-audio but i am unsure as to the order of the pins should be connected in, the pin labels are so vague and completely different from the manual illustration that i'm left puzzled as how to go about it, that's why i posted my query here to see if someone has faced a similar dilema and they could share on how they solved it NOTE: i contacted my mobo manufacturer again (foxconn) requesting instructions but i'm not holding my breath, they still haven't answered, then again they'll just probably thank me again for choosing one of their products and give me no help whatsoever (lol) as expected -

yes, you are right they look like jumpers, i wouldn't bother with the front-audio either, but my back-audio doesn't seem to be working properly, considering the front-audio might be my only way of actually being able to get audio from both of my speakers, not just left, i wouldn't mind enabling front-audio and forgeting about rear-audio completely -
No sound on right speaker, HELP

Hi, this problem is just dragging on and on, i gave up on the issue that's been going on for the past 4 pages, there is nothing i can do, the best advice the motherboard manufacturers (foxconn) gave was to update the AC97 drivers (LOL) and if it doesn't work to take it to my mobo dealer (LOLx2) I have been going through all the possible feasible solutions given here by the experts and elimination processes, the cause is either the motherboard/compatibility issues or the mobo back audio connectors damaged, I had an idea to try to connect the speakers to the front audio (never had used it before) but i noticed the front audio pins are not connected to the motherboard, which is strange, i tried to read up on it, but the motherboard manual is not clear on the order the pins should be connected, i was hoping i could ask your help, .....again I have included images of the manual, pins, and motherboard http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg153/kikouno01/PC/FrontAudiomanual.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg153/kikouno01/PC/Faudiopins.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg153/kikouno01/PC/Faudioconnectors.jpg it is confusing, some pins have short wires and some long, and the motherboard manual has different names for the connections also...on the photo of the motherboard the connectors have two blue plastic bits connected to them, what are they? do i simply remove them when connecting the pins? -

Thank you hi again, i'm pretty sure the speaker connector is stereo, yesterday i connected the speakers to a laptop and they worked beautifully, rich clear audio on both channels, this is the full speaker specifications it's in PDF format, it states it's stereo http://www.alteclansing.com/images/spec/VS2420_SELL_SHEET.pdf but yes it has to be my motherboard, i've been researching it and lots of people been reporting issues with compatibility with XP with your immense help we've exhausted pretty much every possibility, unless the foxconn board manufacturer's release XP compatibility fixes i don't think much else can be done, not even a sound card would help if the motherboard is at fault, regardless.... my enormous gratitude for the way in which you tried to help with my malfunctioning motherboard, and i'll resign to audio on the left channel for the mean time, until i invest in a new system, many thanks -

sorry it took so long to reply, i was running tests on my system, i plugged in old speakers and the right speaker didn't work either, so it is the right audio channel that's not available, not sure but as Wolfeymole indicated it most certainly has to do with my motherboard and it's lack of support for the XP sp2 OS i would have upgraded to sp3 but been hearing lots of problems with AMD systems and sp3, not sure if adding a sound card like blaster would fix the problem, it is puzzling, how can i hear audio from the left channel but not the right? lol -

i changed the model name just now, to nf4k8ac-8ekrs and i went to the second page as you said and it had drivers (Nfref 637.) maybe it's an update to previous drivers, what do you think?
