  1. Yes. I've isolated everything but I think now I'm going to send the mobo back to where I got it as everything seems fine. Thanks for you replies though, they are appreciated.
  2. No, I've checked these a thousand times. A blue LED flashes once at the front of the case whenever the power button is pressed.
  3. Thanks for your reply Mike. The PSU is 500w. The mobo is a Gigabyte S-series, GA-P35-S3G and the processor is an E8400 Core 2. The sop I bought it from is a well known store in my area and they recommended these to me. They even installed the processor to the mobo.
  4. The PC is up and ready but whenever power is turned on nothing happens. There have been a few occasions when a blue LED at the front flashes and the graphics fan makes a small movement but other than that there is nothing happening. All connectors have been correctly attached and the graphics card and memory have also been firmly attached. Could you please help me with this?
  5. Yeah that didn't work. My parents decided to flatten the computer instead, against my protestations!! Thanks anyway. p.s. do you know anything you can do to keep your registry in good order without having to purchase RegCure?
  6. My parents computer will not start up. It gets past the windows loading up screen then goes straight to a blue screen with the following stop error code: stop: 0x00000024 (0x8711E268, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000) Additionally, this is as far as loading up Windows it gets. Please could someone point me in the right direction in trying to resolve this issue. They are operating on Windows XP Home Ed.. Thanks.
  7. Thanks for that Dalo Harkin. That's all I needed to know for now.
  8. I am planning on building my own PC and would like someone to very kindly clarify some tech details for me: I have been told the DDR-SDRAM speed needs to match the CPU fsb speed, and this needs to match the motherboard speed capability. However, I have aread the following are compatible; 1) 2x2gb DDR2 PC-6400 at 1066MHz 2) Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 at 1066MHz 3) Asus Striker Extreme nForce 680 (socket 775) PCI-E DDR2 motherboard at 1333MHz Are these compatible? or does the motherboard have to be 1066MHz? Thanks.
  9. No the DVI was not plugged into the laptop, just the D-sub. Either way I've unplugged it because I think the laptop I have is not good enough to handle it. I will use on my PC when I build it. I was more curious as to why the correct resolution appeared as an option for the period of time I mentioned. Thanks to everyone who replied. Just out of interest what did you mean VGA and DVI cable in at the same time, and how is not advisable to do?
  10. Thanks to everyone. I have all the information I need now.
  11. It's a Toshiba laptop. I'm planning on building my own PC and will obviously get a good graphics card in order for me to get the most out of the monitor. However, on the first time of connecting the monitor it did give me the option of 1920x1200 and everything seemed fine. After a while I restarted it, and all that was available was 1600x1200 or 1920x1440. Now, at first, I did have the monitor plugged (the D-sub cable) into a PC and also through a graphics accelerator - it didn't work on my laptop initially. It was at this point I realised that the DVI cable also had to be plugged in. So I restarted the laptop after attaching the DVI cable to the monitor and the D-sub to the monitor and laptop, that's when I was able to get the 1920x1200 resolution. To answer the question, I have an ATI radeon express 200m card. I'm not sure what has happened here, the graphics accelerator may have managed to change the configurations somehow?? Either way the adaptor menu in the advanced options say that 1920x1200 is not an available mode so I'm becoming more convinced that it shouldn't have allowed me to use 1920x1200 because my card can't handle it. Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated on this!
  12. I can get resolutions 1600x1200 or 1920x1440 but I need 1920x1200. Can anyone help?
  13. No. It's just coming up as a rootkit item in the scan. BitDefender doesn't seem to be able to do anything with it. Are you saying that it isn't malicious then?
  14. Yes I do have folder lock installed. What does this mean then?
  15. That's not a problem. I will keep checking for when you have decided to do this.
