  1. Forgot to mention I've tried that still no joy I'm thinking of reinstalling the windows hoping that a clean slate will do the job, but if there is an easier way i am very willing to rty anything as th reinstall is a last resort.
  2. hi there, i got a problem thats got me pulling my hair out, nearly. I have a Mesh elite Core2duo 1.86Ghz 2 GB RAM running Windows Vista Home Premium First of all the DVD rewriter fitted in to the PC a Sony g170A sata device stopped playing dvds films and games So I added a second New LG dvd setting this one to master and setting the sony to slave, No Change I then changed the IDe cable for a brand new one this brought about a change and the PC refused to recognise either one so I retuned back to the original one but still had no drives. When you hard boot the PC both DVD drives are recognised on the black boot up screen Once windows kicks in the drives are not there. AHhha thought I and got an external DVD drive a Sony DRX-800UL and this failed to install the driver. so I went and had a look at the Device Manager all three drives are there with a yellow trianglewith a ! in it when you right click it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" and when you chck for solutions it just says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" This has been driving me nuts for a while now and the big hammer waits.
  3. thanks for the advice guys but.. I have tried various dvd programmes from windows media player, media centre, VLC cyberlink Dvd I have updated drivers and firmware The only thing I can think of is a widows update has thrown everything out, but i can't get at it as uninstall updates won't go back beyond 5 days. really am getting fed up with the whole thing.
  4. the first was a sony dvd the second is a lite on , I have tried various films and game dvds one that I have nearly finished as well aaaagh so i don't realy want to re install windows.
  5. CDs work fine and the pc works ok with an empty tray it's just DVDs that restart the PC
  6. Hi there, Everything was hunky Dory Mesh PC windows Vista home premium, watching DVDs with windows media player 11 playing dvd games OK not the fastest in the world but ok then I move the PC from one side of the room to the other and now I put a dvd in the drive and the PC restarts. If you then check the drive with the disc in it treats it and blank " drag files to add to disk" I thought it might be the dvd player and tried a new one same problem I have updated the drivers for the drive, checked the Hardware Manager but that says there is no problem with the device. To be honest I am getting a little irate with it now so any help would be more beneficial than a 12lb lump hammer. Cheers Malki
