oh no, is there any way i can get files off the drive?

hi, it is only about 6 months old, when i tap f8 it just goes to the error message again,

hi, this is my first post , i was wondering if anyone could help me. i switched my daughters pc on this morning and it wont load, it gets to - "searching for boot record from IDE - 0 - OK " then says - " A DISK READ ERROR HAS OCCURRED " And then advises me to re boot, which just brings this error messageup again. any help with this would be really appreciated, my daughter has to go back to school tomorrow, and she has been doing loads of work over the summer, and now cant print any of it out, thanks in advance :)
