  1. Hi Jelly Bean, I suppose your right, thanks for the reply. Best William
  2. Hi, I need to send my computer off to be repaired. But am a little worry about the security of my personal information. I don't keep any sensitive information on any files etc. Would very much appreciate if some savvy individual on here, could suggest some safeguards. Unfortunatley I can't get a technician to come down and fix at my home, which would be a much better option. Even more annoying is that the computer is only two months old. Any advice on this subject would be useful. Thanks in advance. William
  3. Hi Starbuck, Thanks a lot for your quick reply, much appreciated. I did manage to remove AVG through the same link on their site> But have reinstalled AVG. Unfortnately it appears some users are having the same problems, since downloading the latest 2010 edition. So will take a look at your suggestions. And once again, thank you. Best William
  4. Hello After having problems getting general errors when trying to update, I tried to remove AVG, and reinstall without success, had to cancel installation. Getting error code OXE001DOZB. I am now also getting Window Security Alerts, informing me that AVG is not up to date. Also I cant even upgrade AVG as it now shows binary files, when I try to download. I'm using XP windows operating system. Already tried the AVG forum. Would it possible to install another Anti-Virus program, as at the moment, my computer is unprotected. I would be very grateful for any advice. Best William
  5. Thanks for the replies. To be honest I got myself into a right mess a couple of days ago . It appears that the problem is cause by a bug in the internet explorer software. Also Jelly Bean I shall follow your instructions and let you know how things go. Best William

  7. Hello I seem to be getting this microsoft message quite often This window is busy. Closing this window may cause problems. This time despite using windows task manager I could not close the message. Then unfortunately due to sheer frustration and having a bad day all round, crass stupidity surface, and I decided to close it anyway as I put it down to my slow and old computer and would be replacing it soon. I have also been getting the low in memory message from Microsoft. After doing some google searches the opinions seem to varied, ranging from malware, virus, to nothing at all. I would be really grateful if someone could advise me what to do here as I am a little worry now and annoyed with myself. :o Best William
  8. Hi RandyL Thanks for a very comprehensive reply, much appreciated. Actually I did not word my reply correctly. I should have said, I only click on the paperclip not pin, and view the name of the attachment. I did not open it! But in any event will follow your guidelines to be safe Thanks Again William
  9. Hello Received this afternoon a e-mail purported to be from Sun Country Airlines, thanking me for purchasing a airplane ticket for $700 on my credit card. I was 99.9% certain it was a hoax. They also said that the details were contain on the receipt which I could print out by opening the e-mail attached.zip file. Unfortunately I was stupid and panic, and although I did not open the attachment, I did click on the pin, more out of curiosity then anything else. I should have know better, then to be so dumb. After googling I have found out that the attachment contains the virus Trojan.Zbot-1715, and worrying this malware problem can be used to gain remote access to the recipient's computer. With remote access, the attackers can root around the computer and harvest log-ons, passwords and other information stored on the recipient's machine. I have scanned my computer with AVG, nothing located. And will used other programs. The problem his, I am not sure whether the computer has got the virus or not? I would be grateful for any advice, as I am now quite worried about it. Best Regards William
