I have managed to get the mobo down to 29c and it hasnt shut down yet - i will keep you guys updated

i under stand now - yes i think they are heat sinks heres the link to a pic of my motherboard t-break - ASUS P5ND2-SLI

Slightly confused now. there is a heatsink on the processer with a good fan. should i attach another fan on the outer case to cool the motherboard?

It is actively cooled - ill attach another fan to cool it down - i hope that works.

asus p5nd2 -sli mother board Pentium D 3.4 socket 775 (i use to have it over clocked to 4.0 for 3 months) that might be it? Corsair 2gb ram hiper 580w power supply 250g western digital Inno3d 256mb 7600gt graphics card i use to play WOW 5 hours a day and call of duty 4 alot but not anymore. 1 month ago when i use to tap the pc it use to shut down so i checked all connections and they were fine so i changed the power supply - when i tap the computer now it doesnt shut down so that eliminates the connection problem.

The PC is around 2 years old. The psu is a Pentium D 3.4

Thanks for the quick response I have tried that - i have a program that came with my asus p5nd2-sli mother board called pc probe 2: my temps are as follows cpu 24c. and thre mother board 35c. Can you think of anything else it could be? Thanks again :)

Hi all, When i turn on my PC sometimes it will shut down half a second later, or it sometimes shuts down while surfing the net - i thought it might be the power supply so i replaced it but i am still having the same problems :mad: Could it be the mother board? Anyone with any ideas?
