SweatyOmnivore replied to SweatyOmnivore's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
have tried an atx reset but the wireless card is on the mobo -
Hi guys have a computer here and the wireless is completely missing. theres not even a device in device manager. have tried re-installing driver but still nothing. its a compaq presario f560EM. Dont know if this will also help but the wireless switch led stays on even if i switch the switch wireless off. I think the wireless card might have kicked the bucket but wanted to check.

Ubisoft reveals Far Cry 2 specs
SweatyOmnivore replied to Dalo Harkin's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
i guess its a good thing i upgraded to a 9800GT then. these look near enough the same as crysis really. -
The Recovery Partition should be hidden usually and what you have deleted is a seprerate partition for storing larger files. you can use disk management to re-allocate this space on to your C: drive. Right-Click my computer and click Manage You will see a new window and on the left pane chose disk management. you should now be able to see all the partitions that your computer has detected. you should then be able to extend your C: drive by using the un-allocated space.

To be specific we need to know what interface your motherboard has for graphics card. This could be either PCI Express x16 or AGP x4/8. depending on which one you have will determine what sort of choice you will get. you can check by either opening the case or by using diagnostic software such as sisoft sandra (just google it) which is free. We also need to know what power supply you have running and the specs of it can be looked up on the side of the power supply when you open the case. we need to know what the voltage and the 12v ampage which is all written on the power supply. once you have that we can recommend a graphics card. Starcraft 2 is quite a newish game (not sure its even out yet) so you gonna need quite a beefy card unless your ok with putting down the visuals to play the game.

Connecting XP to internet through vista
SweatyOmnivore replied to shrimply's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
The only problem with what your doing is that the computer your using to share the internet connection acts as a server and will need to be on whenever you want your other pc's to use the internet. if your laptop has wireless internet you must have a wireless modem router of some sort... why not just connect them all to that so you can share your files and get the internet without having a computer constantly on. -
Have you recently installed any new hardware or software? To try and get your CD DVD Drive back Click Start and then click Run When the Run window opens type "regedit" Then Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Then Expand SYSTEM and then CurrentControlSet Expand Control and then expand Class Under Class look for {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Then in the right pane look for UpperFilters and Delete it. Note you may also see UpperFilters.Bak but dont delerte that. Do the same for the LowerFilters aswell but if you see LowerFilters.Bak Dont delete it. Exit the registry and re-boot. Hopefully you should have your DVD Drive visible again. As for the slow Boot-Up have you Defragmented your hard drive recently?

Yes that will be fine. the two ratings add together to make the total ampage becuase that power supply has to 12v rails on it to supply electricity to the bigger components like the processor and your graphics card. normally i wouldnt trust those power supply calculators. when buying a psu its always best to over estimate a bit anyways.

Replaced PSU; PC not recognizing HD

It might just be that the psu you have replaced it with is not got enough juice to power your machine. -
I need a new pc....idea's??
SweatyOmnivore replied to fab4boothy's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Heres something thats in your price range that you can just go into pc world and buy Advent TC4002 Desktop PC. Cheap Advent home and office computers from PC World. its nothing fancy to play games on but its got a pretty good spec for what you want to do with it. -
Thats a pretty good spec if you say you wont want to play games. Some of the older stuff will actually play well on it (like command and conquer 3) but dont probrably wont cope with anything like crysis. The LG screens are always good quality, where did u get it from did you order from the internet?
