  1. (Lost the orig, reply) I'm using Nero Version 8, but I still haven't had a chance to try it out.
  2. PC still freezes after ejecting CD I still have the problem of the PC freezing up after ejecting a music CD, I even waited several minutes for the CD to stop spinning but nothing seems to work, any more ideas I could try?
  3. PC still locking up after ejecting CD Both the new CD Burner, and the original one, after ejecting a CD, will lock up the computer, nothing, kybd and mouse don't work, 3-fingered salute won;t work...... What could possibly be the problem? I would hate to have to reformat the HD, I would lose a lot of data, even tho I have an external 250 Gb HD. :( Steve
  4. ok, but pages take forever to load The new look is fine, a little more cheerful, but the pages take forever to load, and I've got a fast DSL connection. :D Steve aka testmg80
  5. Well, all seems better with the original CD Burner, I played 2 music CD's, copied some files, performed a lot of operations, no freezing up. I could still like the reason why the PC would freeze after ejecting. I put good money into the new drive and would want to use that. Thanks, Steve
  6. No, the old burner never had that prob. hate to switch burners now, the new one along with the correct device driver seems to copy files fine, I'm not usinng Roxio anymore - Windows has it's own function of copying files. I'll switch drives 2morrow and see what happens. Steve P.S. Can't seem to find the old burner just yet, so it'l have to wait til 2morrow anyway
  7. After my original prob of the computer crashing while copying files, I have a new problem -- After ejecting a music CD, the PC freezes and And the mouse and kybd won't do anything. I have a Dell Windows XP SP3 with 2 Gb RAM (used to have 4 Gb, was told to take it out), 1 Gb Video RAM, 2.8 CPU, DVD player, and brand new CD Burner. Any Ideas anyone? Steve
  8. Issue Resolved? I contacted Dell Tech Support online and they re-installed a Device Driver -- fltmgr.sys which seemed to clear up the prob. We also tested the CD burning while copying files to it, using Windows Burn Utility or something like that, that I didn't know about. No need to format CD's like Roxio likes to do. I also removed 2 of the 4 GB of RAM. Seems to run ok now, maybe a little slow for my choice but it's 2 years old. All seems quiet now. Thanks guys. :-)
  9. CD Burner still crashing computer after copying files to it Does anyone have any ideas about why my CD Burner crashes the PC after writing files to a CD. I get a black screen, then the BSOD with the error: ox804fb02c, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL The Cd Burner is brand new, the 2nd one I've had in there. Any ideas? I'm desparate :( Steve
  10. I'm not sure what you mean by 'burning a CD', I'm just trying to copy some files to a CD for backup, right now I decided to use my 250 Gb ext. HDD for backup. PC still crashes after trying to copy files to CD, plus one of the other 2 CD burn programs thinks all my CD's are read only. It's also difficult to get to the RAM chips 10 or so times a session (I have 4 Gb) Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback, Steve
  11. Re-install Roxio I think I'll try to re-install Roxio, one of the 2 CD Burner Pgms I tried thinks my CD's are read only. Great. Oh, well, we tried. Thanks for all the assistance guys, I really appreciate it. I learned a lot giong thru these probs. And no, i'm not giving up, just put it on the back burner for a while. :D
  12. A total loss I lost the whole CD Burner setup; I installed Nero8, which froze the screen twice in a row; I un-installed that -wouldn't even start. I then installed CDBurner XP, that made all my CD's Read only; 1/2 of Roxio is gone (uninstalled- I need some parts of it for my DVD player.Plus, CDBurner XP locked up the mouse and kybd, I must have had to unplug the PC 20 times. Anywhere I can get a freeware copy of Sonic Roxio? Major Geeks.com maybe. Steve
  13. Roxio always wants to format a disc, whether it's a CD-R/W, or a CD-R. A big pain. Think I'll uninstall it.
  14. I've tried 2 CD drives, the original one, and a brand new one. If I install Nero or CDBurnerXP, should I un-install Roxio (Sonic); it always wants to format a disk B4 using. I'let you know when I get one or the other installed. Steve
  15. Thanks Goku for the info, I tried to install either update, but because I'm runninng SP3 (From Micro$oft) it won't let me install the patches. :( Says I don't need them or they're already installed.Any other ideas? Steve
