on the chkdsk stage one i have a lot of "file record segment XXXXXX is unreadable"

yes it is listed on my computer as a harddrive but i cannot acces it i\even if it has died is there any way of getting my data off it.

Well Im pretty sure the only thing that was dammaged on it was the OS files

So So dnt you know what that error message means or indicates about the HDD

k i right clicked it and it says mark as active but it is fadded out so i can't click it and it says (active) next to healthy under the status colum

Yes The enclosure works fine and the HDD is installed on my computer and is there under G:/ in my computer but when i click on it to open it i get the "G:/ is not accessible Error performing inpage operation" message.

OK Ok i dnt think i can do that as my vroken HDD is SATA and the other computer has the old style HDD in it

That HDD will not boot That HDD will not boot remember it gets the unmountable boot volume message. so how would i even be able to start the computer like that.

Hey in windows xp pro i got the unmountable boot volume blue screen and dell told me to back up my files to another computer by using a HDD enclosure so i did. when i try to click on my hard drive on the other computer I get the message "G:/ is not accessible Error performing inpage operation" What can i do to fix this i have tried the Chkdsk G:/r thing it didn't work it got to stage 3 0f 5 and then just dissaperared thanks for the help

OK Ok i am going to back up my hard drive to my other computer using the enclosure thingy. ill buy one today and get right onto it then reinstall windows thanks.?

I need to get it for recovery console???? My computer won't start up i can only turn it on and either get a blue screen or get into setup. is there away i can get it from someone online ??? thanks
